Effective leaders look and sound confident, smart and refined, they are aware of other’s feelings and they tailor their ideas to it. To win hearts, empathy is key; you must recognize the people’s concerns, aspirations and interests. To show people the advantages of your ideas, you need to let them know how your idea addresses their needs. Let them recognize how enthusiastic you are about your idea and also demonstrate that you are not keeping a shut eye to other people’s perspectives. To win minds, conduct an intensive finding on your subject matter and make a good case to them. If a person has other ideas, try so seek a common ground that meets both of your needs. To me, confidence is the stain that you can't wipe off.
Opinion Advantage is very necessary especially when there is an opposite or similar proposal aimed at equally winning the approval of an audience. A typical example is in a debate, all debaters may have a plan to improve the economy for instance but they may have a similar or opposite method of achieving it.
An opinion advantage refers to that edge a proposal has over other proposals and the debater with this master key will ultimately win the approval of the audience. I usually connote Opinion Advantage as ‘the killer kick’. Research has proven that opinions can be influences by various respects such as negotiation, debate, information delivery, integrity of the speaker and emotional appeal of information.
Therefore, try your best to have these characteristics perfectly mixed to your audience. Where all these qualities and more are present, you will easily inspire your audience and achieve their goals. Charge your team to work together to achieve collective goals, canvass as much support from your contemporaries or get the endorsement of senior managers for your ideas. To win individuals or a small faction, be specific and less formal with your message, let them be able to connect with you on a personal level and conversely with larger groups, be more holistic but yet connective.
