We all search for the elusive whale taking note of our blogs and posts. I've been involved for 5 days now making posts and monitoring upvotesand rewards. Made a small amount of money and transferred it all to steem power. Yesterday I had writers block and couldn't come up with anything to write. So I just decided to comment and Upvote on posts written by others.
I found a few noteworthy articles that my no comprehension ability of crypt whatever could understand and started replying with questions. Made some statements on how to help a person like me understand a post a little better and advise on how to write a little smoother. I'm guessing I commented on about a dozen posts where I could give some actual input and not just "try" to make it look like I knew what I was talking about. What turned out even bigger are the questions I asked about #steemit and #bitcoin.
I fell asleep with my smartphone in my hand and awoke bright and early at 1:00 this afternoon. Opened my steemit wallet up to see if anything had come in. Surprise!!!!!
After maneuvering around the steemitstats site I figured out where the money came from. A whale had found 2 of my questions/comments and upvoted them. What did this mean? Well it means exactly what all the info I read said. The whales really want to see engagement, exchange of discussion. They want to see this platform develop into more than just another social media platform. By paying more attention to the comments they have the ability to motivate people who really want to improve steemit. They want to encourage people like me, who have little to no knowledge, stay involved and help steemit become something. The occasional funny post or vacation photos are great, but the discussion on those posts can even be bigger!
Help curate, help progress good discussion, help all of us learn and a whale may just make your morning!!!

I can't find the reply button when I'm on my phone. Only for replying to replies.. Anyway, great recommendation to the community. I'm getting a bit tired already of copy pastas aiming at easy cash. Curation is a very important part of the system!
Yes it is, and I think it's a valuable tool to use when you can't think of anything to write. Just promote smart engagement and have some fun conversing.

Just keep at it. It'll get noticed. I had to make it a point to really try and give my best advice or ask the right questions. They do notice!
I keep looking at my curation awards and there's nothing but zeroes across the board. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing because I love to read and write. Hopefully the money will come.
I just dedicated a block of time to only focus on quality curation, and I think that helped a lot!

I am new to this site, and a really have to say steemit is really interesting. I hope this idea of steemit really takes off b/c it would probably change the internet completely!
