That's how it started for me as well ... by complete accident. I was writing a eulogy for my grandmother and, accidentally, I stumbled into a stanza. I thought, huh, that's interesting. One stanza became two ... and two became twenty. My eulogy was the poem ... and almost 100 people put their names on a list to later receive a printed Memorial Copy (which cost a LOT because I lived in Florida and they were all in Canada).
The poet in people can lie dormant for a long time. But, once it finds its voice ... :-)
