I upload my photos to Steemimg, com. When I click on one of the images I have stored there, I click "Embed codes". It shows me a lot of different options. I choose the Markdown code for a "Medium" image. There's a button there that just lets you Copy the link it provides. Then I paste that in my Markdown editor or the Steemit editor. Hope that helps.
I hope that helps. There may be other image storage services you prefer, but that one is within the Steemit universe and they are supposedly good for storing the images at least 10 years.
go to Tinypics.com
go to browse - upload from computer -
dont worry about the other buttons just go straight to upload
it may come up with you showing your not a robot cache thingy - enter what it says
then it will say 'click here to view photo' - click
Your photo will appear on right hand side
4 yellow lines - bottom line -DIRECT LINKS FOR LAYOUTS
highlight and press copy
Go to Steemit post - choose where you want your photo to go - press paste
I usually check back to Tinypics to make sure the codes match, especially when uploading a few.
Here's what I do. I use Webs.com it's a website builder. I upload my photos there onto the file uploader. I'll do a tutorial for fopks to learn such a method. Once uploaded I right click the image and open new tab. It leads to a image url jpg type. Meaning the image file needs to be turned into a image link url ending in jpg or png.
You can do the same from any web server host, and especially if you own your very own server. Another way to test it out or to post photos here is from a public domain like Pixabay.com
There all you need to do is visit the image web page you wish to utilize. Then right click that image. Open in new tab and once it opens, copy the url aka web address.
These two methods are similar in how you'll need to copy and paste the image link url into the Steemit editor. Markdown is automatic so no need for any html unless you wish to center the photo.
