What has Steemit done for you?
Steemit has literally changed my life, yew guyz! Let me tell you why...
Prior to joining Steemit (let's call that period in my life BS or Before Steemit) I spent a lot of time browsing through Instagram and Facebook. If I am honest with myself, I knew I was wasting my time, but couldn't tear myself away.
Nowadays (let's call this period in my life AS or After Steemit), I like to browse Steemit for interesting posts, current world news, and of course, crypto information.

AS, I am more aware, more awake. I have mentioned before how quickly I can fall asleep at night. I noticed that since I have said good bye to FB, my attention span is better. I can read books without distraction, watch TV shows and retain more knowledge. I do still hit the hay hard when it gets to 11pm or after, but I also am sleeping better. I definitely think this is because I no longer play around on my phone before bed.

I am forced to constantly think of new content. This directly causes me to start, develop and follow through on my ideas. This especially helps me to hone my writing skill, and this is one of my most favourite things about Steemit
I have had to learn new skills, such as Markdown, using a video editor, and also have learnt so much more about crypto than I knew three months ago π
I have also gained some new friends, through Steemit itself, and other connected platforms, such as the Steem Speak channel on Discord. I have met some crazy, diverse folks there, and it has really opened my eyes to other walks of life out there πΊ
My question to you would be - What have you done for Steemit?
I would hope your answer would be similar to mine.
- I have invested in Steem with my own personal savings, as I really believe in the platform. π°π°
AND - I have tried to spread the word as much as I can, and have currently three family members and two friends who have joined after hearing @morkrock and I rave about Steemit.
I would love to hear about your experiences and what you have gained from being part of the Steemit community.
πSteemit - you rock my world babyπ

Yeah, it is great! I'm also proud of myself for sticking to it. Normally I get a bit bored of something after a little while. Not here!

lol mal bliksem
Sounds like investing in yourself is the best investment there is:)
I can see a lot of the points you noted reflects the same for me my friend! Since joining steemit, I am only interested in reading original post by authors rather than plagiarism on FB!
Well i'm no more checking FB since months now!
Same, friend! I wonder sometimes if I should just delete my profile entirely...?
I have infact unfriend everyone on my FB + block access to any request too. And i also deleted all my photos that were there. But can't delete the profile, i have tried but it is still there!
I think once you have deleted your account you have to leave it alone for a small amount of time.
I also deleted mine in December - but if you have messenger it keeps your account active
Ah ok, it's because of my messenger then. Thanks for this info my friend.
At the very least, I haven't looked at my facebook in over a month, and quite realistically probably not at all since I started using Steemit. I did invest some personal money into it, but since steemit has better ways to earn steem (contest, get payed for work with SBD etc, etc) and I don't have a lot of spare money, I haven't invested much of FIAT (though not for lack of believe in the platform).
What have I done for steemit ? well, I've brought my good natured self to the platform, making all of your stays more enjoyable. Then there's my designskills for hire and the fact that me and a few buddies are working on some supersecret project that we'll announce soon enough as well :)
Good answer!
Thank you for sharing this with me, excited to hear about your projects!

Nice post :) for me it did kind of the opposite for the sleeping thing but for the rest it made everything better like you :)
I always was anti facebook, wasn't the biggest fan of social media but steemit gave me a complete new perspective on this, and I see the good side of social media now.
Still I feel it can be a little addictive sometimes, but I am working on balancing things out.. As I am pretty new to this virtual world I have to find the middle road and not get stuck in the extremes.
P.S. love the cat pics, they are so cute :)
Thank you Mitchie!
I was just SO tired of the regurgitated shit I saw on FB, and Steemit is a literal breath of fresh air.
It's important to have balance, turn off the PC and get outside too though πΈ
Jup, that is exactly why I never liked facebook. I did however eventually create a profile to keep in touch with the people I meet on my travels, since everybody is on fb this was the best option :)
I am working on it :) it is getting better everyday, it wasn't only steemit keeping me behind the screen, I was also trying to catch up the blockchain revolution and the new technologies and investing... it seems like never ending, so much to learn.. but I am slowly getting the hang of it all... Learning new things takes time, so much info out there.
That is so true my friend. I am always tired, cuz I work sooo hard at work and then I come home and Steeeem, and then I check what BTC and all the other crypto currencies are doing, then I always try to read or watch one educational something everyday.
Once you stop learning you may as well die in my opinion!
Lol, that is a hard statement but there is so much truth in it as I think this reality is designed for us to learn about life and ourselves until we "die"
You aren't lying about the same ole junk on FB. Steemit and Twitter are my "alt" communities where I can kinda express my views and see the world, not just a bunch of hayseed rednecks from my hometown all the time sharing Breitbart and ridiculous political trash.
My worst is those stupid posts of something ridiculous - "Tag a friend and say nothing".
Have you seen the film Idiocracy? We're almost there!
Steemit has been so good to me, Facebook is a waste of time, bores me so much whereas Steemit is on my mind all the time thinking about what I can write :)
