Not really, but they both defeat the idea of decentralised "curation". I self upvote a lot and this possibility was one of the reasons I powered up: I thought not it as a way to promote my photography. The income (pennies) and the reputation boost are a nice bonus.

They're both a potential problem, but I think self upvoting is bad only when the self upvoter doesn't upvote anyone else. You clearly give back to the community, so I don't think @sadkitten should follow you. Unfortunately, I really am in no way related to @sadkitten. (I'm @posthero.)
