I'm no Steem expert by any means, but surely spreading fear about voting is detrimental to the Steemit ecosystem?
If people are reluctant to vote, authors won't be rewarded for contributions. It's already hard enough to gain any traction on this platform without people feeling like voting is "spending".
Perhaps I'm naive, but if Steemit is a game of chasing algorithmic quirks and nuances, I don't want to play it. It's the algorithm's responsibility to encourage participation not our responsibility to learn to game the system.
This will be a rare case where I will choose NOT to research further -- I'll just vote and contribute as I please and hope the Steemit algorithms are able to reward people fairly.
You are controlling your votes well (90% voting power https://steemd.com/@popcornlobotomy) however especially new members vote down below 50% and never let it recover. I am not spreading fear I am spreading reality. Most of the people under 100 SP and under 35 rank are up voting things with less than 50% power just to vote. They would be better off making a list of posts/comments they want to upvote and only up vote when over 80% power. Thanks for reading and sharing! I encourage you to rethink about the math of how voting power works.
I'm actually not controlling my voting at all, I just don't spend that much time on Steemit at present. Would love to be here more.
I do understand what you're saying about maximising voting power, but it's not practical for me. I just read articles I come across and upvote them if I like them, follow the user if I like their style.
If the algorithm is unfair with my normal behaviour, I'll take it on the chin.
