Although the daily number of posts and comments has not really been growing recently, the number of active users continues to grow steadily. On average, about 1,400 new users sign up every day. Thanks to these new users, the number of active users surpassed 30,000 for the first time yesterday!

I count an account as active if it has made at least one transaction on the Steem blockchain on that particular day. This transaction can be a post, comment, vote, transfer, sbd conversion or power up/down. I exclude only the account creation itself from my calculation. The creation of an account is always its first transaction, but I count the account only as active if it made at least one other transaction after its birth.
All data comes directly from the Steem blockchain and is based on UTC time.

Really great to see an all time high in daily active users. This is showing consistent growth and is the way a social media site can truly be measured in value. Really curious to see what this number will be after HF 20. Love seeing more Steem leave Polo, even if it's just going to Bittrex and not being powered up. Great information!

Active users is the stat I have always kept my eye on. That number truly lets us know if steemit is being adopted by people and becoming part of their daily interaction.
Growth! It's a good thing. i just hope the strong smart content stays alive as more and more clones join steem. steem gives me hope in humanity.

Will it be in the future needed to have a post counting in blog page for the real posts and not transactions?
Because as i know and you said above, all transactions are combined only in posts option on the blog page.
To have more accurate view on a user it might be good to have a look at his real posts / comments not other transactions.
Maybe is a silly idea but i think it will can help people to know what they really see.

That is good news @penguinpablo. My question, however, is there a way to track the new sign-ons as to where they're from or how they signed on? My question is based on comparison with affiliate marketing where they use cookies to track new members/customers. I do a lot of online marketing and of late advertising Steemit.
Steem is a nice platform to express your views and articles, the good thing about steem, what I like is: @cheetah is here to catch the piracy writers.

Very good post regarding stats. I also think it would be nice to see some charts that illustrate longer timeframes.
It seems from looking at the commenting chart that higher reputation accounts need to be commenting and upsetting quality comments from newer accounts to help currency flow and encourage retention.

I'm trying to compare Steemit with tradition social media but most of the data I can find is in Monthly Active Users rather than Daily.
Any chance you could produce data for that? Going back to inception would be amazing since I'm really interested in comparing growth rates. I will definitely post what I find!
