Its a weiss rating its based on unique page views per day it actually means that were organically growing as an information platform on the global scale. This is a tremendous thing.

Yay, top 100 next! I mean let's face it, half the top 1000 are probably just porn sites anyway.
I found this image on that Alexa page pretty interesting:
it is both impressive that the search engine percentage is so low and also that it is growing. Let's face it search engines drive a huge amount of traffic so if they are starting to recognize Steemit as an important site this will drive more traffic which will increase it's importance which will drive more search traffic which will.... I think you get the picture. As I've said elsewhere today, I think 2018 will be the year Steemit gets real recognition. All the derivative projects like DTube, and DMania are really starting to drive traffic it's way and get the worlds most busy blockchain in the hands of billions who have not yet discovered it. The social media future will be decentralized!
Do you have any comment why Steemit lost some ground in the USA? I remember that it entered top 600.

It's also very interesting to see how steemit more than doubled it's traffic to the site (data from similarweb since november-december 2017) and how this data correlate with data you present here of engagements like writing posts, comments, daily active users and more.
What I love about the news that steemit made it to top 1000 sites worldwide according to Alexa is that this rank is not inflated by using shady techniques, it's mainly the fruit of engagement and user-created content.

Great news, but steemit is still ruled by whales and being willing to dump alot of their own money into steem power to kind of bull over the system. I get that's the glory of steemit, but people who post really good content without deep pockets are pretty much at the mercy of those with higher influence
