3. Daily accounts transacting
A 'transacting account' is a Steem account that made at least one transaction on the Steem blockchain. This can be a vote, post, comment, transfer, power up or sbd conversion. Users who only read from the Steem blockchain without interacting are not included. The actual number of 'Active users' is therefore much higher than the accounts transacting.

8. Steem Price Update
¯\___(ツ)____/¯ Follow me @penguinpablo for daily Steem statistics.
Thank you for this statistics 👌
Things are mostly ticking over okay. We're still waiting for hf20 to give us a boost. It looks like activity goes down at weekends. I wonder what percentage of votes are automated. I got over 200 on a post as Curie liked it, but most are tiny. I suspect a few dozen accounts distribute most of the rewards. I've seen some accounts that get consistent large rewards on posts and/or comments thanks to self votes or another account they probably control. Often the content is not great. There's nothing to do people just taking the money whilst doing nothing to help the community or the platform. We rely on the whales to deal with real abuse as most users fear retaliation that could wipe them out. I've been three before. It's up to us to make things better
I just started posting into busy, steemiteducation and ulogs. All are giving pretty good votes. steemiteducation and ulogs have to pick your post, but busy is a slam-dunk. One post a day is the limit for each and I wish I had started earlier.
Two other places I've been for awhile are kryptonia and qurator and they do good votes once a day as well. Also steemitbasicincome helps on each post.
I'm still in and trying hard but really having a difficult time.
Wasn't that hf20 thing announced last year at this time? I have no idea what it is, but I hope it helps if it gets here.
I keep getting picked up by the @trufflepig bot for "undervalued posts." Most stay undervalued lol.
Hf20 will make it easier for more people to sign up and has other features to help steem scale.
I've had nice votes for using the esteem app.
Oh! That one is on my list to try. I think I looked at it, and I was not sure how to sign up for it. Is it a place where you have to do a download? I have windows 10 and I think I could not figure out which button to push on some place with a lot of options.
My laptop is not in the best of shape and I don't want to fool with something I do not understand (more that I already have to lol.) I do not have phone until I get to Malaysia next week and I don't use a phone anyway, so if it is for a phone only, it will not work for me.
My solution to the sign up catastrophe is to "hire" some current steemers to help through steemgigs or in some way that they get paid to work the new accounts. We have trusted people who would do the work, and this cannot be brain surgery ffs.
Esteem is an app for phones or PC, so you have to install it.
They could use people to help with signup, but an automated system would be better, if it can prevent abuse
So steemit stop to create new accounts?

Thank you for the stats.
The figures are not happy ones at all.
The volume of STEEM POWERED DOWN is disturbing especially when compared to the volume POWERED UP. Well, this clearly shows why STEEM price has be nose diving.
Also the number of posts has continously been on the decline and the number of accounts opened is also on the decline.
What is steemit not possibly doing right?
"What is steemit not possibly doing right?" The curation system sucks. When I look at the feed it's noise and crap posts. The original white paper said content creators would get paid for votes over the lifetime of the content. But the current reward system only rewards votes the content gets in the first week. This ruins the long tail effect of writing good content. If you want to get good content creators, need to make all votes get paid, not just 1st week.
You are absolutely right @belerophon. Steemit really needs to improve a lot on the present curation system.
More so, it seems like Steemit has been Hijacked by money bags who are only here for the gains and not for the primary purpose of the platform.
More so, getting valued upvotes over the lifetime of a content will really be a great idea and a whole lot of motivation for good content creators.
I agree with you the figures are nothing to be happy about, but I don't think it is directly caused by Steem or Steemit itself.
The price of Steem is down due to the general market sentiment in the altcoin markets. Nearly all altcoins are nose diving right now. Due to the lower Steem price it is less profitable to post on the network. The number of posts follows the price. Not vica versa.
Thanks for the insight.
New account registration needs improvement...
when one of the CEO's is powering down a huge amount of Steem and not explain anything to the users, nobody has to wondering...
But not only this, there is nothing to see that something changes with the trending page, with the up and down vote system and some other things.
There are quite a lot things NOT OK on Steemit.
And other networks not sleep.
And right now is the moment for separating the wheat from the chaff at the altcoin market.
Regards
Tom
Thank you. Overall not happy situation. But we can see improvement on upcoming days. New account creation is going down. It not food situation. Administration of steemit and users must have to promote steemit. Also daily number of posts in trouble.
Bitcoin surging strongly while the majority of altcoins are dipping or at least indifferent. What is the market upto?.
Part of it is just bad time for crypto altogether with the fud campain. Part of the user retention problem is the way everyone advertised making hundreds of dollars per post and when most realized that wasn't the case unless they are willing too poor a bunch of money on voting bots, It may have atracted the crowd that expected quick money instead of the crowd that wants to be here just for the experience of growing a social media platform in a revolutionary way as flawed as it may be. Expectations were to high might be people got butthurt and left when they didn't get their 15 seconds of fame on the first 3 months. Part of it is all the users signing up multiple accounts trying to game the system. Times may seem bad right now but we all remember that feeling when steem started to jump up from the 80 cents it was last summer, it just means keep steeming for the next run! One thing that would help steemit is more curation from users of all sizes instead of comment farming or saving them for large self votes only users. Right now most users are bloggers and not content consumers, too many chiefs not enough indians....catch my drift...tht will change as the platform grows, this is probably just growing pains.
