Has it been that long already?
Just the other day, @cryptofarmer wished me a happy birthday, because @papa-pepper had been on steemit for a full year already. It is amazing how quickly life can go, and how much can happen in just one year. I thought that it would be a good time for me to reflect and gather my thoughts about the past, present, and future of @papa-pepper on steemit.
From being a n00b who knew nothing to steemit meetups to steemians from Canada showing up in town tonight, this steemit has been a wild ride! The vlog runs about 20 minutes, so enjoy it!
REFLECTING ON MY FIRST YEAR ON STEEMIT
I realize that some of you may be looking for advice. I've certainly posted a lot of it in my time here, but often it is buried by months of newer content, so it may be hard for you to find it. This is certainly not exhaustive, but these are some of my best and most insightful advice posts.

Yes, they sure are! But reading through your articles, I realized how slow a reader I'm. When you claim that to be a 4 or 5 minute read and I take thrice as much time to do so, I feel I need to increase my reading speed a lot just to be an average reader.
Was post payout happening twice earlier? You mentioned somewhere that you used to get paid twice ...once after a day of posting and then after a month. I think it was a better system. Why was it modified to present one?

You are a true inspiration, I’m glad you took your friends advice on signing up! I can’t image what tags use to look like. Sounds like that was a giant mess!!! I rather enjoy just being limited to 5. Granted I’m still rather bad at finding 5 tags and that is something I keep trying work on. Thank you for providing the tips you did in the video @papa-pepper and congratulations on 1 year!

I got onto Steemit because it gave me an incentivized outlet also. My friends would always ask me to get on FB. I would say, "Why?".
Steemit is cool. It gives people a platform that isn't ego based.
We can go out, post unique parts our personality and be rewarded for it.
It just feels genuine and I love it for that.
The most surprising thing to me is I feel like I'm meeting good friends. I didn't expect that bonus.

Not only did I get to spend the night at the house of @xtrodinarypilot twice - a steemian from Canada just came all the way to hang out for the weekend! How cool is that?

@papa-pepper, congratulations. You were the first person of note that I followed on steemit. I started posting right about the same time you started your 18 part series on how-to steemit. I waited for them daily. Taught me a ton about the platform. So much so that I have given many new steemians your 5 minute advice video, with the 18 episodes included.

Congrats, for the first year.... It's been 9 months since I registered.. but the actual time for me here is about two or three weeks (This last week, and few separated days across the past 8 months)... so I'm technically new.
Haha... currently I'm a noob too, so I'm glad you've become a elite(?) in one year time, I'll try to be a better steemit-user in three months before bots signal my cake day!!

Wow! I said it before and I'll say it again @papa-pepper. You are quite frankly the most interesting, brave, humorous, good natured and kind hearted friend I first met on Steemit! I was lucky to meet you when I first joined around 40 days ago... and I've learned a lot since then from your videos and posts. (Yes, I've checked out your videos on Youtube too.) You are one of the pillars of Steemit. And quite an encyclopaedia of knowledge when it comes to that. Keep doing your crazy wild stuff. Hi papa. I was impressed and inspired by this video. I love how you describe an average working persons ability to create an opportunity for themselves with steemit. You are right, this truly is a unique and special place. I also enjoyed hearing about your mission to build your own house on your land. I like the idea of self sustainment. Tell me papa, how do you feel about gold? Is it something you are interested in?
