How Frustrating is it when you see a mediocre post with $100's attached to it and your gems lie untouched ; )

in #steemit7 years ago

I've only been on Steemit a short while so I'm just getting the hang of it.. if like me, you're feeling like you're putting loads of effort in but progressing slowly, keep going, it will take time ! I have made 265 posts. That's a whopping amount of posts in the time I've been here. I've made 100's of upvotes, comments and engaged in multiple replies. I've managed to gather 100+ followers so far and would like to make friends with as many like minded people as possible.

Every single one of those posts (and most of the comments & replies) contain something from my own personal work or custom written for the platform. The work in itself takes hours, days, weeks, sometimes months or even years. Some of my posts with multiple images can take up to 1 hour to collate. I am used to spending lots of time making things & preparing things and hoping people will understand what it means.. It's not what I do, It's who I am.

I've posted:

Films I've made

Photography in lots of different categories

Art I made

Poems I wrote

Discourse on Sc-fi and other subjects

Music I wrote

Clothes & Homeware I've designed (I might have encouraged a couple of sales here)

I even posted my Sales Persons Handbook (ZERO VOTES)

I've got lots of content to share as I create every day. I'm a Creative DIrector by day and I'm also a blockchain enthusiast.. I research a lot of projects and am quite knowledgeable about upcoming BC projects // ICO's, price charts

Steemitphotochallenge Winner !

I did win steemitphotochallenge #40 in my first week on the platform ( Street Photography) & that's quite amazing. I've also had some of my photography featured on DPS, which I'm pleased about.

Sophie's Story

My animated film (link to my vimeo) got a lot of steem. I suppose it's really all about how many followers you have and how visible your posts are. I find that not many people re-steem, like they share posts on facebook.. Is that about keeping the blog exclusively personal to the member ? or do my posts smell funny ;)

Connections

I've had some great conversations, have posted, commented upvoted and even given out advice.. I even gave 5 SBD to my 100th followers cos' I was feeling lucky and 2.5SBD to the person who showed me how to find out who my 100th follower was.
I like the fact that people here are actually helpful. I can't help feel that everyone's motivated in the same way UBER drivers are.. A high customer rating = reputations /success.

Keep Truckin'

I will endeavour to post high quality content and hope to build an audience here. I also like the idea of collaborating with like minded people. I have been sharing my content for totally free for many years on one platform or another. I have about 1000 tumblr followrs / 750 Instagram and 300 facebook friends (I know each facebook friend personally)

I always follow back cos' I'm nice like that .... Everytime I use an S instead of a Z spellcheck red underlines me that my English is wrong.. or when I add a U after an O, but I'm used to that !! US English indeed.

I will atleast upvote and follow your next posts :)

Thanks Bymma ! I'm following you now.. not in a stalky way...just mutual appreciation

it's about the journey...think of how much you have gained in reading various stories etc....heck the money part is in our face.....buy some BTC and ETH and hold...that 's more that Steemit may provide in the short term...keep plugging. And BTW ....I think silver is ready to stop being held under water by the bad guys

BTC & ETH holding is good advice.. there's also ETC LTC and a bunch of other good stuff out there. My point was I've seen some really average, technically poor and amateurish, unoriginal photography on here which has megabucks attached and ( I HAVE SEEN SOME FANTASTIC STUFF which has less than $1.. what seems to be the difference is the amount of followers a person has.. and in there probably a proportion of whales adding massive value to certain posts.. I know whale hunting was banned years ago, but I think I might have to go and sharpen a few harpoons ! here kitty kitty :P

if you tell a story by visiting a location and take many photos it makes it look like we are with you.....this seems to be liked by many...and yes I see the other stuff ...it will come

Nice ! Thanks for the vote of confidence :)

the struggles we face as an artist....lol

we all need it .... :-)

Hi Congrats on winning the street photography competition. I joined a couple of weeks after you.
Please check out my photos and vote if you like.
look forward to move content

I'm following you and will be taking a look at your portfolio.. Cheers Suni !
time for bed now ZZZZzzz I also wonder how the timezones affect post visibility. I thought I'd be ok being on GMT

This is a first everything for me. First article I ever clicked on Steemit. First follow, comment you get the point. Now that Crypto currencies have skyrocketed it has my full undivided attention. Glad to know my first follow has great motivation and a positive outlook. Hopefully I will meet more people like you!

Game on Dochness.. this is the 7th iteration of the MATRix and you've got a key ;) watch out & stay frosty

Upvoted followed and resteemed!
Please check out the gems on my page as well lol

Hi the3i - will check out your inner eyes ! follow back

Thank you! Followed :)

Less frustrating as time goes by. I've become a little philosophical about it now. I take a deep breath, be grateful for the success that people are having on the platform separate from my own success....and just keep on moving forward. :-)

Yeah.. part of me wants to shout ARGHHHHHHHH because like many platforms, those who got there first seem to always win out, even if they don't have that much to say and people like success; are attracted to winning bids. I'm quite philosophical generally. As far as I can see, I was given a sickness / gift called creativity and I have to do something with it. sharing it makes it all worthwhile whether it's appreciated or not.. to be honest, this place is great in terms of feedback and making connections.. I think it will be very big in the future and I'm pleased to be here SB

Every single post helps to build Steemit's Google rankings. Eventually that should put Steemit into the top 500 or so websites, which will bring in a lot more users. It actually already is to some extent, as I've seen a few introduceyourself posts from new users who said they just happened upon Steemit through a Google search. So thank you for your contributions, you're helping to make Steemit great.

I agree Ken.. STEEMIT has got a long way to go and in time will become a massive behemoth of a site comparing to instagram, facebook and twitter.. although it's more like Reddit + which I think is a massive leap forward. Blockchain is the internet's answer to the question 'what next' and the world will wake up overnight in the next year or so !

Perhaps you were expecting the 15000 USD income per post-don't (or are you really giving advice)?? In any case the advice of several of the steemcolleagues is that one must treat this endeavor as a full time job. You have to give it 25 hrs a day, 8 days a week and so on. The point is that if you keep thinking about the money (which I assume is your worry) $$ will seem to not come in ever. Your work is good here, so let it roll, do what you like and the green ones (SBD) will roll in by their own. Good luck.

Thanks Tony.. It was really a reflection and as a 'business mentor' I was using a 1st person case to make the point so that others might go.. yeah, I'm feeling that. There is some EXCELLENT CONTENT on STEEMIT, so I'm quite pragmatic.. I've only been here 3 weeks and I'm very impressed with all of it. I am very interested in blockchain, D'APPS and the future of technology in general so I will be sticking around.. see you in the future

I hear you @outerground. Like i mentioned on another thread by @hitmeasap, over time i'm sure quality posts and interactions will reduce the luck factor out of post earnings.

Great posts btw :)

Thanks Numps - yes loud & clear ! quality posts and interactions may help to streamline the content

What you're making might look like peanuts at the moment, but if steemit undergoes a few surges with a consistent upwards trend that is seen now, you might as well become a millionaire in 5 years

YeahJoseph.. it's all about the content and waiting for the tide.. although I have notice Steemit is much more active at 11pm my time (GMT) than 11am in the morning.. Something I learned from tumblr.. perhaps scheduled posts could become a thing !

Great post! Gives me motivation! Following you now.

thanks Dreams ! keep dreaming (sonically speaking)

I'm feeling ya @outerground! Some of the "trending" posts that get so much steem without any real substance or content makes me question my own direction. Cheers @outerground.

bitcoinsky, thanks for the reply, I'm glad you're feeling it... always good to question one' own self quality control filter.. time will tell

Keep at it man. I'm way newer to this than you, but I understand your sentiments. If it's any consolation, my feed is brimming with your posts and it's all good stuff. Crack on.

That's possibly the best reply so far ! Thanks FB following.. you can brim up my feed too ;)
