HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE for a new account TO BE APPROVED to get on Steemit

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

I have a friend wanting to get on Steemit and its been 2 days since he has signed up and still no confirmation .
Just wondering whats taking so long . He is starting to lose his enthusiasm.
Anyone have an answer ??????

Sort:

i know two people who created accounts over a week ago and still no response.

It has been 2 weeks since my friend applied and They are going to make a new e-mail and name and try again . Steemit has a problem and they need to fix it .Someone told me the problem with my friend was because I was login into the computer with my account when they applied .so I will not be login into steemit this time . That's about all I know

mine only take 2 days to approved. there must be some technical issue or maybe server issue.

I am not sure the issue but its frustrating me. If i recommend it to someone and they cant sign up? Its not building hype but changing peoples minds about joining.

Hi @otisnrown. Just wondered if your friend ever got approved? Thanks

Thanks for pointing that out. I think that might be why my friend is having to wait over 2 weeks. did the account ever get approved or is it still in limbo?

I got accepted after waiting 23 hours... Hope this is a great site, guess I will find out now though.

i am also waiting for the approval of my new steemit account…… •ᴗ•
perhaps have to wait for a week,,,

to every new steemit friend, after you have earned steem and sbd, you will, of course, want to withdraw your earnings. in case you do not how to do with it, just read my experiences, I will keep these articles updated in my websites:

How to withdraw the money you earn at Steemit into USD in your PayPal or bank card?

The Tools I Am Using to Withdraw Steemit Money into PayPal

How to Buy Bitcoin via PayPal?

Thank you for the links. I have so much to learn about this platform.

I don't know but that sounds like bad policy

Well it does not sound like good policy that's for sure.

Seems like it depends on the country. I have been getting friends to join from around the world and some get approved in a few days, while others are still waiting over a week later...

So it seems he is not the only one waiting

I think there will be a lot of people in that boat. It could be a serious inhibitor to this site growing, but i can see why they would want to check people are not bots...

Hope they streamline it soon though...

Hope they streamline it soon though..

I hope so too

I feel like there are better ways to trap spam accounts though. Like, what is it that they're doing in that 48 hours? Is somebody manually checking these? All I can assume is that if they are querying some of the services available to see if the account has been used for spam purposes... but I doubt they're doing that manually or that's going to be a huge issue as they try to scale the site.

I'd definitely be interested to know what the technical reason is for the delay.

If they are doing it manually then maybe it is taking so long because it is a week end .
This kind of shit needs to be fixed and like fast. It makes Steemit look like a run out of your garage business .

Took less than 12 hours for my account to be approved, I think.

Registered from AU IP with a non-regional (.com) e-mail

Same situation here. I'm guessing it's some kind of measure to prevent people from just setting up dummy accounts to upvote their own stuff, but that seems counterproductive. I mean, if it's someone setting up dummy accts they would have no problem waiting days, but people who actually are passingly interested being left waiting days for approval are likely to get annoyed or bored with it.

jrhughes thanks for your input on this
my friend is about to just forget about joining he is not happy he has reservations about crypto currency to start with .

While your friend waits, maybe they'd consider........

My approvement takes couple hours. I'm here less than a week. So i think it will be happen soon. Just reminder today is weekend it could be the reason

Thanks @twn

I was lucky to get in when it was quick, but I wanted to set up another account for a LEO accountability project, but I can't because my phone number has already been used... Seems like a blockchain tech would have a better way. Maybe soon.

Did they contact you and say you were not approved

No, the process ended when I put my number in and it was the same as the one used for this account.

I don't know
Tell me when you find it out

I will post when the approval comes through

My friend joined saturday and he approved also on saturday.

Still waiting since Friday

My approvement takes 10 or 12 hours

Still waiting since Friday

My account was approved in 6 hours. :)

Still waiting since Friday

They approve all accounts manually so it takes time. Usually less than 24 hours but sometimes confirmation waits for 2-3 days.

Still waiting since Friday

I'm still waiting and it's been over a week now... Do you know if they at least send a response email if (for whatever reason) they were unable to set things up? Not knowing and being left hanging here makes things even worse because then people are inclined to try and set up yet another account... There has got to be a better way of making this happen while also securing the network...

2 weeks for my account just created.
BTW... Hello community :)

Took me a few hours to get email.

Got my profile approved within hours. :)
My first day on seemit :)

I think a waiting period of a few days is reasonable to prevent abuse by bots and spammers. I'm not sure if that is the reason but it makes sense.

It took 5 days for my account to be approved. While 5 days waiting period is not acceptable for a platform that is built on the concept of blockchain the lack of clarity only adds to the frustration for the newcomers.

Before considering any other new features steemit should first look at addressing this issue https://steemit.com/steem/@gokulnk/is-approvals-steems-achilles-heel

I am from Russia. It took 7 hours. Thank you, Steem!

Lucky One !!!

I was approved in a few hours. I didn't wait that long.
Is your friend's nickname a brand name or something? (Maybe coca cola etc)

There were no manual approval when I registered :)

My son applied over a week ago and only got the email to confirm he would be contacted and nothing since then. He has 15,000 followers on YouTube and 39,000 on Instagram! I think he would do well here but he's fed up of waiting. Could it be as he applied from the same IP address as me? What is going on?

Hope someone can help us!

Yeah... It's the 7th of August and these problems still exist. You would think that this was elemental to the over all success of the SteemIt platform. Were you able to get hi set up @ladycrypto?

I tried setting up an account for my wife using her cell number and email... It's been over a week and she still hasn't been approved. Not cool if you ask me... She's already on the fence when it comes to crypto-currency so this is making things extra tricky. I'm wondering if it's because I signed up using the same computer and wifi I used to set up this account. Regardless... It's sort of stripping the fun out of it all in my opinion... I wish this was improved upon.

Oh shoot! Did he get approved yet? My housemate applied from the same IP address as we share the internet and he's still waiting for approval. It's been 2 days now. That sounds like a bummer :(

No, he hasn't been approved. We're beginning to give up as we don't know who to ask. He sent a message to support but no reply either :(

That is sooooo ridiculous :(

Did your friend make it in? My wife has now been waiting 10 days.

Oh wow!

@mitchmiester is your wife on Steemit yet? @darnscotty

It took me 7 days to get approved. I'm just new here, finally I can start my steemit adventure!

It took about a week for me and just got approved this morning! Yeww!

My friend signed up and has now been waiting for 10 days to get the account approved and still no reply...

more then a month already !!!!
=[

Holy dynamite! That is unacceptable! :(

It's 15 days since you last posted this... Any luck?

Noooop =[
We decided just to pay for one account !
And second one just get suspended I guess .
No other chose !
=[

Hmmmmm! Well! I guess that's always a solution right. When you payed for an account did you get set up right away? What happens if you need to recover your account? How secure is the process in your opinion?

At least you were able to set the account up right?! 🤔

Yes, when you pay - you get it right away !
Very convenient !
And price is good now - only 6 Steem ! (was 15) It changes in time ...
There is at least two services like that ...
And I do not know about recovery much !!!
Just do not lose your password =)
Please give a warm welcome to @newguyintown !

Thank you for filling me in on the details! Guess I know what I'm going to do when I get back from my summer vacation. Pay and set things up! We have a whole winter of blogging ahead of us.

I wonder if I will be able to use the same user name I was trying to get for my wife before... I hope that it isn't locked up now...

If it not went through, you can grab it !
We had same situation, been waiting, then bought same user name we was applying with.....
The sooner - the better !

I've been waiting over 2 weeks now for an account I created. Do you think it will ever get approved or should I give up and move on?

Steemit really has to fix this my friend has created account 2 week ago but it hast confirmed till now.looking for great answer to fix this.

registered a new account on steemit over a week ago and still no response... any help would be appreciated

waiting 4 days now for second account , registered on same IP , enthusiasm for new account is fading , shame on you steemit!

@steemit I’ve been waiting for over a week for my new account to be set up for a project my friends and I are working on and want to share here. Also have 7 friends who are waiting and now very discouraged... seriously WTF!?!? Get your act together...

I was just approved after about 3 days of waiting.

For me was 24 hours (actually a few minutes less).
Now I am writing my first reply

I don't know what is wrong with Steemit. My friend wants to join and he's been waiting for 13 days already and no word. Is there any technical support which he should contact?

@otisbrown the average account seems to get accepted 5-7 days after applying, the shitty accounts take around 14 days the really shitty ones take about a month and the lucky accounts get accepted between 2-7 hours and the really lucky ones in about an hour.

really account, not "shitty"
just validated ....
4 week !!! inacceptable !

This post (and a few others like it) helped reassure me it was worth the long wait. I almost feel bad posting how long it took to get accepted, but I'd be remiss if I didn't offer a glint of hope to a "would-be new user" that he/she may eventually be accepted. It took 23 days, and I'm elated to be here, but I felt quite differently while waiting. Crossing my fingers for a brilliant solution to the lengthy wait.

I created my account last week and it was approved today! I was dancing when I saw the approval mail. I had lost all hopes after reading this. The Approval process really needs to be polished.

Okay I'm new here and didn't know how long it took to get a account... Told two musicer to sign up for a account so they can post some videos on DTube but hey it has gone 14 days now... Steemit is on beta but can't stop wonder if there are any devs here anymore. It would be good if a email was sent to tell that it is many people in line for geting a account or something :/

Finally i got my account, it took me exactly one week

Waited for 10 days, then emailed Steemit support and sent them a private message on Facebook. One of the two worked as I was then approved 12 hours later.

Okay Im going to do what you did. Because a friend of mine, been waiting to get a response after he registered and still up to now he got no response.

Thanks.

I applied on March 25th and was approved on April 5th. Located in Australia

For me, it took 2 weeks and 4 days. By then I was starting to think I would never get approved.
