You hit the nail on the head @sethlinson, you are an artist and you make work because you want it to be seen not to make money. Carry on with this positive and creative attitude and you may find even more success, but more importantly less frustration from watching the $'s. As an artist I concentrate on the vote score, it's nice to make money but I want to see how many people my work has reached.
Now there is a follow button that works, you may find a post about your fantastic animation work will earn you more followers. Maybe put a GIF in for your main picture from one of your animation pieces?
