This is brilliant! I totally love it haha. Such fun graphics and a novel idea.
How about another version where you display the activity of whales, dolphins and minnows as they post and comment? Not sure if there's a consensus on what classifies each category... but that would be cool - to see a whales swimming through because they're being active somewhere.

Good suggestion btw. I was actually considering something along those lines, but opted to start here since it was a little easier to code. :) Hopefully I'll find some more free time soon to continue work on it. Tough with 2 young kids.
