RE: I thought Steemit Was a Bit Too Sanitized. I was wrong.

in #steemit8 years ago

Woke up around 4am Central African Time this morning because of my dog standing on top of me. Once awoken, I don't fall asleep again easily or at all, so I cuddled the little asshole (the whole dog, didn't just focus on his butt) and realised he probably needed to drop his guts and piss on things.

So, with coffee in hand, soon I was sitting outside in the dark, the only sound being the muezzins across the city calling the faithful to salat. And the sound of a particularly dank nugget from my dog's ass that actually made a sound as it plopped into the soft soil. I couldn't find it and had to go fetch a flashlight in spite of it being about a foot long.

Being fully awake, I of course went onto Steemit to see which American whale had given me a $250 trail of upvotes while I was sleeping. There must've been a problem on the blockchain because there were none. I hope they fix this soon.

The vids and article are spot-on as far as my views are concerned. I had to suppress my Sarah Silverman boner (death by snu-snu please), but managed okay in focusing on the message. And then John Lydon as a final touch, yeah.

The article by (@)drrobertmuller is a prime example of something great which was unable to rise above the static of lame, over-voted strategic posts.

You really have a knack for finding good content and curating quality over monetized trending. I have followed many of the people that you have resteemed.

I also feel strongly that you should start to consider spreading your wings and write your own content. Your writing and reasoning is superior to the bulk of the things I have to sift through every day.

That's too funny. I can't get that imagery out of my head now. Oh doggy butts. Now I know what I'll be dreaming about. Oy vey. You woke up to it, but I'm going to bed with that in my head.

I appreciate the compliment. I really haven't put much effort into the what or the why of what I'm doing on here yet. Honestly, I don't think I'm that good of a writer. I know I'm not a bad writer, and probably not in how I convey my ideas, but grammatically, I know I could use some work. I could use a copy-editor, tbh. Or just a remedial class in writing/english grammar. Maybe that's where you could help me if you wanted to. You definitely are superior to me in that regard. Now don't let that go to your head...or do, it's whatever. I don't really care to be the best. I kinda just want to write stuff that's meaningful rather than the 50th version of the same thing in a new flavor.

Let me know if you have any ideas you feel like sharing, or if you just wanna talk about whatever. I'm going to bed, but I'll get up and look over your blog to see if you've posted anything new. I'm just now making my rounds back over your way.

But it's those 51st versions of hardly reheated posts that make all the money! But seriously, I'll help you with whatever my abilities will allow for. I haven't found a direct message function in my browsers or mobile Steemit app, but my hobby web server where I do my drafts in WordPress has my anon email under "contact". If you know WordPress, I can give you author's access and you can use it to practice. It auto-saves and you can go back to earlier versions while testing graphics and photos to see b how it fits with your post.

It would be easy for me to go over grammar and small details there before you you unleash it on Steemit.

This feels like the beginning of the internet. Meet someone you know nothing about and find that you get along. All I know is that when I'm sleeping, you are awake doing god knows what. And vice versa.

It'll probably take a day or two before I start doing posts again. Focusing on comments and upvote myself. Must get more SP!

Cool, that WordPress idea sounds really useful. I've never been on there. I'll have to see about that. And yeah, I've just figured everyone on here talks over on Discord. I have it, but I haven't used it for any Steemit talk.

It kinda does feel like the start of the internet, doesn't it? I'm definitely doing lord only knows while you're sleeping. Although, I'd say my sleep time has been a bit peculiar of late, specifically last night, after that beautiful imagery you set me up with. That truly did translate to my dreams...don't ask...just don't ask lol. My head's a dark and scary place to wander around too long sometimes. All the time, rather. I think that's why we'll make good fwiends, you and I.

I'm not really playing the money game on here yet. (Not that I really have any means to.) I'm feeling a bit cynical about all that. Maybe I'll change my tune on that if I can figure out a decent angle that doesn't feel too much like I'm pimping my soul to Steemit.

My sincerest apologies for inducing your new butt obsession. Made me think of this (it starts at the relevant part, so no need to watch the whole vid).

I'm also on Discord, but only to drop links into post promotion channels when I do post. I have no idea how it works otherwise, but my user name is nonsqtr#1972. It seems like almost everyone is on Steemit permanently while also chatting and moderating on Discord while working for a living while getting a masters degree while raising two toddlers while traveling the world and ending hunger in Sudan.

Hard to process that kind of drive and energy.

As I mentioned, it is probably best for us noobs to first focusing on replying to whale and dolphin posts in a meaningful way, showing them that you actually read the article and acting like you don't care for votes.

Your visibility increases and they may even start following you. My followers grow a bit every day just from my commenting. It makes more penny shards than my posts and the most important thing is to gain rep (mine has slowed to a crawl) and more importantly, SP.

Find me on Discord, I don't care about time differences as I live on about 6 hours of sleep. then I can set you up and give you a login to my site.

PS, we live in the pimping your soul era. People have been conditioned to expect that. Writing about something you are not particularly interest in is a great builder of skills.

Ahahaa. You win funny points for that one. Yeah, I am a bit cynical about the whole online activism/change the world kind of thing, but I have faith in it to, to some extent. Or rather, maybe I should say I wouldn't bother to oppose it, just maybe criticize it. It deserves a bit of that...as everything does.

I can't play that video "in my country". I guess it's not allowed here by the video police. I'll trust it was good and worth a chuckle.

But it's allowed here in Africa where I get that message often. Anyhow, it's about a guy who's been cursed to see butts everywhere. Made me laugh.

Nice. That sounds laugh worthy. Butts usually fit that category.

Oh and I really did dream about dog "stuff". I think the way is goes is if I say the words "I'll probably dream about this" after hearing or seeing something....then it just so happens that I do. Sometimes that's useful, sometimes that's...interesting.
