"What's Hot, What's Not?" and "Let the trend be your friend" are two phrases that we have all heard many times before.
Steemit is certainly white hot! That's for sure. Pokemon Go is also nothing short a phenomenon. These are two examples of What's Hot!! Will they also become trends?
Let's take a peek at what the markets think. Benjamin Graham, Warren Buffet's mentor, said “In the short run, the market is a voting machine but in the long run, it is a weighing machine.”
Steem's market cap was $2.6 million on April 18th and has grown to over $300 million today (July 17th, 2016). That is nothing short of spectacular. ( See https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/steem/ )
Nintendo stock which has been around for decades and launched Pokemon Go on July 6 has had a very impressive increase in it's stock price also. The stock was at $138 on July 5th and is now at $267, up about 93% in less than two weeks. The market capitalization on Nintendo in dollars, (it is a Japanese company) has increased to about $34.5 Billion, with a B from about $18 Billion dollars, essentially adding $16 Billion in market cap. Which white hot phenomenon will become a long term trend? The number of authors on Steemit are probably still measured in the 10's of thousands while over 15 million people worldwide have already downloaded Pokemon Go!
What's more impressive creating $300 million in three months or doubling the value of a company to $34 billion dollars in a couple weeks? I think we can all agree that both have been extremely successful and have great things to look forward to in the future.
