I actually wanted to write this article much earlier, but for some reason, I just didn’t!
I am so sorry about that! When I first got my jewelry, I had to send some overseas. I wanted to wait until they arrived! Which by the way took ages! And I believe that this is one of the main reasons why I kind of have forgotten about it.
What did I learn from that, do not wait too long if you know something needs to be done otherwise, you’re going to forget about it.
Little back story first, months ago I discovered a small stall at the weekly market that makes handmade jewelry out of sterling silver and stones like Opal, Moonstone, Chrysocolla, etc.
It's a young couple who have their own business and sell their jewelry at the market, and they have their own style which they are always presenting at the market and on social media, or if you have an idea, they will try to customize it for you.
I just love their work, and it feels fantastic to know that they’ve made it for you.
So, a couple of months ago, I’ve asked them if they could create Opal push in pins for my medusa piercing that I’ve just gotten for my birthday.
I had a metal labret as a piercing, but some of you might have already seen that you also can get plastic ones where it has an opening to push a pin into it rather than screwing on the piercing ball.
Well, I had planned to let the piercing heal and then put in the plastic labret and have two Opal push in pins to wear.
Here is the exact processes on how they’ve done them for me. I did choose the stone myself when I was at the market, and they’ve changed it into the push in pins.
When I got them I tried them on and wore it for some time but for some reason, my skin does not like the plastic, and the edges of that plastic are sharp as well… which is why I made the decision not to wear it as a piercing anymore! So sad because I loved how it looked above my lip.
I decided to ask them if they could change the piercing jewelry into earrings so that I still can wear them in my ears, I can’t just wear them anymore because I love the Opal stone in it!
A couple of weeks later, my husband and I went to the weekly market where we stopped at their stall and had a look at some earring because my mum’s birthday was coming up and I wanted to surprise her with handmade opal earrings.
Again, I chose the stones at the market myself and told them how I want them to look like, and they’ve made it for me! The earrings are stunning, I totally would wear them myself, but I sent them to my mum as a gift ;)
She was so surprised and happy with them!
Here is how they’ve made them:
I really love the finish of them. As my mum got the earrings, I asked her to take a picture of them, and so she did.
By the way, I also have two helix piercings, and I asked them as well if they could make me a little opal pendant that I could put through the hoop to display that gorgeous opal pendant. I got this one already a while ago, and this gave me the idea again to write an article about how much I appreciate their work to create beautiful jewelry, but I wanted to wait until now because I wanted to show you so much more about their work!
Would you or do you love to wear opal jewelry as well? – Maybe it’s just me, but I’m obsessed with opal, they all look different, you’ll never find a pair of earring/rings that will look the same which makes it so unique to me!
