Sucks when the price is low oh well!!!!!

These types of posts are actually my favorite because I usually get a lot if engagement. Many times I see post with little votes and 0 comments. Sometimes this can be hard for a brand new user. There are many times where I can do a post and it only gets a couple comments. Sure it is frustrating because we are all human and seek interaction. It's only natural. So a couple months back I starred doing these posts where I would reward a users comment with a 100 percent upvote. It worked!!!! Instantly I was receiving over 15 unique comments from people. My upvote isn't worth as much as it used to be but users still want a chance at an upvote. I encourage all user with Steem Power to try this. Communities are coming and this is a great way to build one. It doesn't matter the topic. Just ask a question and reward the comment you liked the most with a 100 percent upvote. Trust me you will enjoy reading all the great comments people leave. Than maybe people will start commenting on all of your posts!!!!

Today's Topic

Ross-Ulbricht.jpg

Do you think Ross Ulbricht deserves to be in prison for the rest of his life for Silk Road? Yesterday I saw a post which reminded me of the big Silk Road incident which almost crippled Bitcoin. For those who don't know Silk Road was an underground website that sold black market product in exchange for Bitcoin. Now here is where the controversy comes in. Mr. Ulbricht wasn't selling anything. Silk Road was like Craiglist or Ebay. Users made an account and offered to sell or buy things like drugs gunz etc. Eventually the site was shut down and Ulbricht ended up in prison for the rest of his life. He recently lost his Supreme Court Appeal and with that all hope of ever getting out again. Maybe the President can pardon him but I'm not sure how it works. Anyhow do a little research on this story. There are tons of videos and site dedicated to this very topic.

So let me know in the comment section if you feel like he should be in prison for the rest of his life. I will upvote the comment I like the most in 24hr from now!!!!!

I watched a really good recap of this issue just recently on D.tube.

https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@elpompador/the-truth-about-silk-road-ross-ulbricht-and-dread-pirate-roberts

For instance, did you know about the officer that claimed to infiltrate Silk Road and implement a sting operation against Ross? Apparently, Ulbricht hired a hit-man to kill someone and just so happened to have the dumb luck of picking a police officer. What are the odds?

Also, what are the odds that this officer would later be convicted of stealing millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin from the operation. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

In addition, many of the criminals on Silk Road performing legitimate crimes got way less harsh sentences than Ross, who basically was just running a forum.

At most, I could justify giving him 5 years. Making an example out of someone because they were successful isn't an effective deterrent. The punishment does not fit the crime at all. They are acting like he was in control of everything when it's obvious that even other people had access to his login.

Winner winner chicken dinner!!

Yes also i think this is the great post i like your profile

It’s not.

No he most certainly does not deserve it. Outside of the fact that I don't agree with laws that impede free commerce among free individuals, the government's case was incredibly poor against Ross. You had corrupt agents who have since been prosecuted themselves leading the investigation. There's also huge issues with how they identified Ross. Beyond any of that he was the first person I know of to be charged for what his users did on a hosted site. Ross wasn't dealing drugs himself and only hosted a site that enabled others to do so. If this is the case then any platform could be held responsible for their users action which is unjust. I pray that Ross is released and justice be served.

In my opinion, any criminal deal will damage the society and people wellbeing both mental and physical and it doesn't matter what is the process, cause the end result is manipulating people's life including me, you and anyone else. So, if they facilitie this process ... They should be punished.

This simply brings up, what should be criminal?
Certainly not selling simple drug compounds. Plants. Victimless crimes...

To be honest, I didn't get your point ... Could you please elaborate s bit more

Yes i think

People go to prison for selling guns a drugs all the time so I believe he should serve some time. He knew what was being aold on Silk Road even if he didn't physically move the product. A life sentence does seem too extreme when people get caught selling dope or guns on the street get less time. I almost sounds like he got hit with a RICO charge. Damn.... Our judicial system is so unfair

Organized Crime, hates competition...

Damn that's a tough one, it's my first time hearing of this so I would have to do more research but just as an opinion, I would have to say yes & no.
No because blockchain is supposed to be decentralised and technically 'he' wasn't selling anything so is it fair to hold him resposible for the individual exchanges on the site?
But on the other hand, I also think YES he is accountable as he facilitated the online 'housing' of the exchange and if that was his clear intention (to specifically sell those type of goods) then he knew exactly the type of things that would be sold on the site. So year he kinda is accountable :-/
But don't shoot the messenger that's just an opinion without knowing the FULL story lol

I don't know about a life sentence though that sounds hefty but again, I don't know what type of things were being sold on there or the depth of the case etc I would have to do research
