Does upvoting in steemit cost me anything?

It has come to notice that many newbies and already participating steemians don't know the purpose of the upvote .
Steem upvoting is a system provided means of showing appreciation or crowning the efforts of steemians as they share their experiences of the world around them .
steem upvoting costs you zero currency .
Every participant has maximum of 10 100% voting power and afterwards it takes a system stipulated time to gain another.
The worth of your voting power is determined by your steempower .
Note:this does not imply that you can only vote ten(10) times.
After you have awarded out your ten(10) 100% voting power ...you can still continue to vote but the worth of each vote will be depreciating .
