I am currently putting together a non-partisan, unbiased (as much as I'm able with the sources I can find), and easy to read timeline of the events in Syria starting in 2011.
Getting real information on the happenings over there is next to impossible and I feel with the moves against Qatar it is time to take an indepth look at how the Syrian conflict plays a large role in how events unfold in the region.
(fair warning, wikileaks will be used as a source)
All in all I am doing this timeline for me... so I can gain a better understanding of how and why things are happening over there.
The timeline is being created with timelineJS (opensource) and will look something similar to this when I finish.
this would be an instalment series and right now it's looking like there will be at least 4 (probably 6-8) timelines in total then one that will document the big events .
when I searched for interactive timelines on the Syrian conflict I got
a broken page from 2012
one that says it's interactive, but it's just a list from 2014
another broken one
and another list of mostly recent events, not an interactive timeline
In my opinion it is vitally important to understand how the Syrian conflict started/progressed to understand how we are where we are now. So, I am going to use my research abilities to bring that to life.
I digest information best when it is presented in terms of time and when I can move easily through the information, maybe thats true for you too.
Just curious if anyone here would be interested.
Don't forget the time John McCain flew to Syria to meet with "Good" Rebels who later joined ISIS.
US interference will definitely play a large part in the timeline.
As to who is "good" and who is "bad" I'll leave that up to the reader because we have enough sources telling us who to root for and who to condemn imo. (but yes, i know what you're talking about and it will be covered)
I was literally just considering whether or not to try and fill the "issues" vacuum currently on here. Its inevitable that politics will creep unto here. You might as well do it if you think you have something to contribute. Fuck it lol
