I've been on Steemit for 12 days, and to say I'm hooked is an understatement. I love the community here and the potential Steemit and STEEM has to offer, so thank you all for going along on this journey with me.
One thing I'm having a hard time figuring out is how much STEEM Power I should have in order to make a difference, even if a small one, with my vote. There are posts on this topic, but most are from a year and a half ago with users saying you need 100,000 SP (sorry, I don't have a spare $600k to spend right now).
I'm at about 29 and my votes do very little. What should I aim for right now in January of 2018?

Hey dear @michaelluchies! Please don’t wonder why I’m reply to this old post :-) I found it over google. Because i wanted to need how much steem power is needed now „move something / effectuate something with upvotes“ and so on...

Thanks for the comment! With the price of steem it changes quite a lot. Right now I have about 350 SP and my votes are only worth 4 cents at full power.

I dont no how much SP i get when i change , lets say 1.0 STEEM . 1 to 1`? so by the current rate of 1,69 $ for 1.0 STEEM i would need about 600$ ? correct me please if i am totaly wrong :-)
You're right, which is a good deal since at times a couple of months ago Steem was close to 400

Yes! I've found that to be true as well. I never thought I'd be so excited to earn 10-15 cents lol.
I'm also new and have no idea. Also it could help if you specify the question. What do you mean by "difference"? If your vote is worth 1$? 10$? To get a bigger share? If a very big - I want to write shark, but I know it's whale- comes than even with a lot of SP you will have little effect. The more the merrier I guess ;) But there's not much you can do, can you? Other than being consistent? Change of subject: would you be here on steemit if it was all for free? (I'm trying to figure out what makes the platform so addictive, I'm happy to hear theories :) but I guess the 'free money' aspect is very tempting)
(Also I upvoted the post and I read in your other that there are more than 1300 cryptocurrencies?? Which I had no idea about, thanks for teaching me that!)
Great point! I should've clarified. By "difference," I mean vote power of more than just .01 or .02. I guess if I had to ask a specific question, which I should have, I would want to know how much Steem Power I need for my votes to count for .25 or higher.

It says 500 steem power would equal 0,24
