World travelers, trading experts, autobiographers and an uncountable number of other specialists gather in STEEMIT with one common goal: making a lot of money. Of course this is kept unspoken, although we all know it. Otherwise we would still use and spend our time in other platforms like Reddit, Facebook or this cool niche community of our special interest. What’s more important than contribute and get a lot of quality information from specialized people in niche communities? Yes, we guess right … money!
And this is the point we come in touch with capitalism.
First let’s get a bit of basic knowledge for a better understanding how capitalism works in STEEMIT. In the 18th century a very intelligent person called Adam Smith laid the foundation for our understanding of capitalism. Among other things he used production factors, which we easily can apply to STEEMIT:
- Land and natural resources are needed to produce any kind of product. In STEEMIT we just need a computer/smartphone with internet connection.
- Labor as human effort to produce goods and services. Our products are posts which are highly dependent on our investment of time, creativity and passion in our articles.
- Capital which is a longer term investment of human products to create other or even more products. The best example is STEEMPOWER. If we make this long-term investment, we can expect even higher returns in the future on STEEMIT.
For all the three inputs we expect some kind of return. Unlike Facebook, Reddit, communities, etc. we earn STEEMDOLLAR for our contribution. In a second step we are able to convert it into real dollars and can buy real stuff from it.
As we are really intelligent in our actions we will try to maximize our earnings. And how we achieve this? Simple, isn’t it? We will try to invest as much as we can in STEEMPOWER. Therefore we have to make a lot of posts and earn STEEMDOLLAR. Our motivation is in a helix of constant need to make more and more money and get it into capital in order to earn even more money. We can call this process capitalism.
Considering our present thoughts: Is the STEEMIT capitalism good or bad for us STEEMIANS? I would say it depends… Let’s have a look at some advantages and threats.
Definitively there’s a huge motivation as we can earn a lot of money by posting things we like to write about. Maybe some dreams of wealth will come true on STEEMIT. Furthermore the allocation is way fairer than it is in the real life where much of the capital is already allocated to few people. We don’t need much land, natural resources or capital, just a computer/smartphone with internet connection and passion for our articles.
On the other side STEEMIT will face some threats. With motivation especially focused on money the quality of our post may get really bad because of e.g. plagiarism, nepotism and a lot of crap posts. In later stages of STEEMIT we will also see an ongoing allocation of resources to few STEEMIANS.
For sure there are a lot more advantages and threats with link to capitalism. Do you have further ideas?
In conclusion it will depend on us if STEEMIT will be a good or a bad example of capitalism. So let’s begin and make a great and high-quality platform for an increasing number of STEEMIANS!
