Posts have a two stage payout system one around 12 hours, unless the time is extended by bigger weighted votes near the 12 hour mark. The second one is after 30 days. After that you can't be paid for the post anymore as far as I know and if you blog regularly the post would be so far down the blog it'd be impractical to expect upvotes.
