Steemit Logo On Your Photos/ Videos -Trademark Infringement?

I think it's important that we shed some light on this topic...

Excited to post something interesting? Eye-catching?... but what if we're not doing it right? Or does it even matter?

I am pretty new to this community. 4 days to be exact. I did read the entire Steemit User Agreement (Terms of Service) before I hit "I Agree" button upon signing up. I am seeing a lot of photos and videos with Steemit Logo on it and I was wondering if this is OK since it contradicts the Terms of Service which states:

“Steem,” “ Steemit,” the Steemit logo and any other product or service names, logos or slogans that may appear on Steemit are trademarks of Steemit and may not be copied, imitated or used, in whole or in part, without our prior written permission. You may not use any metatags or other “ hidden text” utilizing “Steemit” or any other name, trademark or product or service name of Steemit without our prior written permission. In addition, the look and feel of Steemit, including, without limitation, all page headers, custom graphics, button icons and scripts, constitute the service mark, trademark or trade dress of Steemit and may not be copied, imitated or used, in whole or in part, without our prior written permission. It really looks cool when a photo or video has a steemit logo on it and I had wanted to do the same for my first post but since I read the Terms of Service, I decided not to ...I just didn't want to screw up especially that I am new. For those of you who did include the logo in your photos and or videos, did you have to obtain a permission from steemit? I wonder if we have to obtain permission for every post we publish with their logo on it.

To the Steemit pioneers or experts, what do you say?

hell yeah ..

Hello and welcome to Steem! :-) Followed. Follow me back 😘

Man i was really hoping someone had answered your question.... i was wondering the same thing. I can't seem to find a solid answer.

I don't think you're interpreting the terms correctly. Using the logo to promote the platform is the total purpose of it. Now I understand some companies like Nintendo do not allow this, but that is because their brand name also carries a seal of approval in quality.

However, I think if I were to make Steemit pins and t-shirts with the logo and sell them, then I would need to seek their permission.

Using the logo to promote your own content on Steemit is fair use of the logo in my opinion.
