RE: 4 Years From Today You'll Have Over $150,000 US - Worst Case Scenario - If You Keep Posting, Commenting and Curating Daily

in #steemit7 years ago

Great post! You mentioned that a post should have 300-500 words or more. Many of my posts are bird videos, should I be writing that many words with a video? I have been here only 3 weeks and some of my posts have gotten a little traction, but others almost nothing. One other thing I'm not sure about, does commenting on posts lower your voting power? Thanks

From my point of view and how things go here on Steemit, just posting a video and 'run away' wouldn't do much good to you in terms of earnings.
If you want just to post the video, you can do it on YouTube, Vimeo or similar where anything else or more isn't expected. Right?

300-500 words articles are bare minimum which I mentioned exactly because of the authors like you are - photographers, film and video makers, and some other artists.

I really can't be your judge, even less some grand jury, but I would suggest you to wrap your nice photos and videos in some short 300 words story. Tell us:

  • where did you take them and why
  • how do you take them (where you had to go, how long does it take, what kind of preparation was needed, how long did you waited for the right shot, what happen in between, etc.)
  • what they represent in general and what they mean to you
  • why they are specific, what differs one photo or video from the other (previous or following) one

In other words, intrigue us and feed our curiosity! 😉

As well, have in mind that #photography is very popular on Steemit. That also means the competition is quite high. Therefore, it's even more important to find an own unique expression that would highlight your posts and set them apart (in a positive way) from the others.

Search a bit around also the tags #photo, #video, #macro and some other related to your field.
See how others are doing it. Join some photo challenges that goes around to get notified and gain more followers. Take a look how @sardrt is doing it. I like her photos very much.

Regarding Comments & Voting

Only voting lowers your voting power! Nothing else!
In other words, you may comment almost all day long and as much as you wish, at least until you spend all your Bandwith (what I doubt you would). But even if you spend it, it would recover same as your Voting power is always recovering heading to reach again 100%.
