RE: Steemit holiday greetings from Miami Beach, Florida!

David, I like your journalism at lot and it's a delight to have you here. But, as you are new to this place, I'd like to use the opportunity to say that some people consider it best not to upvote your own comments. Instead, it is considered good form to reward the most valuable comments of your readers by upvoting them. That creates an incentive for your followers to add value to your posts. Anyway, keep up the great work! Happy holidays!

Thanks! What about doing both?

Sounds better. :)

But it's okay to upvote one's own post, right? Since one has to manually uncheck that box to not upvote it, it seems to me that Steemit "thinks" it's okay to upvote one's own posts.

It seems to be the norm around here to upvote your own posts. Upvoting your own comments, however, is something that divides opinions. After all, upvoting is meant to be curation tool.
