Is Steemit becoming another centralized platform within decentralization for hiding content creators? Recently, I’ve come across a lot of content which has been hidden from us due to some people’s opinions and beliefs opposed on content creators. Seeing content being hidden and getting low rating has really upset me, as I joined the steemit community under the impression that there is freedom of speech and no censorship.
In Steemit, content should never be hidden from users, as all content creation is valuable within itself and should remain visible to all users at all times, regardless of individual likes or dislikes. A decentralized platform should be all about individuals rights and equality. We have seen this before with youtube, where accounts have been removed due to a group opinion or belief. The way the flagging system is present within Steemit allows individuals to exploit this option for their selfish needs and can be used in the wrong way (false flagging).
We should be able to decide for our selves what is good content and what’s not. Steemit should never give the option to users to control what content is shown and what content is hidden and the way Steemit is right now, users have this ability and are exploiting it for their own advantage; this is preventing the community from sharing valuable content.
An individual can ruin ones account due to jealously and hate and in my opinion these options should be removed from Steemit altogether. People should be able to express their freedom of speech with out the fear of their content being hidden from other users. We are always going to come across content that we don't like and thats ok, we don't have to like all content creators; we can move onto something we do like.
If there is a crime that needs to be investigated, there should be a different procedure in place, an email should be provided for users to report the crime.

STOPi agree with this statement its a form of censorship and hides posts of users with lower rep then person who flagged them. i can understand flagging spam but flagging something you don't agree with is censorship plain and simple this needs to stop.reason why came on this platform was for the free speech.
