RE: Paying it forward: I'm giving these silver coins away

in #steemit6 years ago

Wow @galenkp, this has the distinct feel of a contest, but I know it's definitely not!

I'm nominating @themanwithnoname. First of all he loves silver. A lot; just check out his posts. More importantly, he has been so kind and generous to Brian and I, but you'll love this part: it's never public, so I hope he doesn't get upset with me for saying so here. He has countless times via Discord, been helpful to us financially but also supportive in terms of just talking and connecting. Finally, he has nominated me for several things here that gets him nothing. A truly selfless good egg :)

Sort:

Reply to this post and nominate/tag the steemit user you think would benefit from having the coins. (Don't nominate me) Strictly one nomination per user only. Explain in 20-30 words why you have nominated that user (their account legitimacy will be checked) Entries will close 6 days after this post goes live. No random comments in the reply please, just the tag and 20-30 word explanation.

Too many words?

Yep. Plus random comments. I'm trying to avoid making this a chore. If it gets hard it will never happen again. This draw (not contest) is my attempt and giving something back to steemit users in a valid way.

There are many for whom an ounce of silver would mean a great deal and I did this process to hopefully reward one of them. I could have just picked someone but wanted the community to do so. I also need people to read the post because most never do. Those who don't read and understand will not enter correctly and their nomination may miss out for that reason.

This may all backfire and I'll never do it again but I need people to be on board, to read the posts rather than simply click upvote and move on and hopefully the habit catches on. In respect of the term contest, well, this is a draw. A contest is an event in which people compete for supremacy in a sport or other activity, or in a quality. or when people engage in a competition to gain supremacy. This is a simple draw that I hope people embrace from a community aspect. If not then I'll keep all of my gold and silver and everyone else can go get their own.

I'm trialling this for a reason and I hope other's do the same or similar. I am giving away this silver, not awarding it to someone who has to do anything other than be the right person to be nominated by another user in the first place. I'm sure you understand. And yes, @themanwithnoname would be a worthy recipient.

Wow @galenkp, this seems to have escalated rather quickly. If by "random comments" you mean my attempt at a joke regarding contests, I'm happy to delete it. And by the way, I always read all of your posts, beginning to end.

Let me clarify. @themanwithnoname is who I'm nominating. He loves silver and is very kind and generous to me and I'm sure others.

He loves silver and is very kind and generous

Agreed.

Awww, thank you @lynncoyle1. That's very sweet of you. Thank you!

Sorry I'm late to respond, I've been out enjoying the outside world. Did you know there was something beyond Steemit?! I think I forgot. Anyhow, I'm trying to catch up now and saw your kind words.

I saw this post and immediately thought of you :) You are very welcome @themanwithnoname 😅

I have been rather singularly-focused for a while now. My interest in silver is probably more notable outside the stacking community. I appreciate the thoughts though! I'm excited for the drawing. :)
