Good points made! Every beginner should read this if they want to create a following here longterm.
You are doing great so far. Keep it up.
You could have added "invest a little in STEEM first, it will skyrocket your growth"
Thank you! Im trying to share the series with as many beginners as possible, but having a little difficulty to be honest - I'll keep posting and helping out beginners.
Thanks for the suggestion, I agree. i'll write it down and use it in a future post!
Basic steps well explained always quality content with @lukebrn
This series has been fantastic man and this post is like a cherry on top of all the content you've already shared.
So many people come onto Steemit and will say things to me like "I'm not a blogger, you are so you can come up with content...."
Fun thing you mentioned, the networking....I tell all the people I bring into Steemit, start by just commenting. But make it valuable comments. And the more people notice you delivering value, you'll start to attract the right crowd.
Been watching you from afar dude, and you are a living example of this! Keep the content coming man, it's been fantastic!
Thank you for the excellent comment @jongolson! I'm really happy to read that you like my content, it's great to see people who value it.
Thank you, I'll keep it up alright and will check out your page now!
You can indeed write all the quality posts that you want but if nobody follows you, they will get unnoticed! So you are correct that you first have to buid your network.
First thing of the day is browsing through my feed. Why? Cause I do know that the people write interesting and quality posts.
After that I do browse through my preferred tags, trying to find interesting people and posts.
But it takes time!
Thanks for the excellent comment @fullcoverbetting, you're right! Keep up the great work.
Hey man, good stuff. I've been messing around with Steemit since June, basically since I started getting more into crypto, and anything that wasn't bitcoin (getting on exchanges and researching altcoins for example).
I may have made some mistakes: powering down too quickly for example, and sending my steem to exchanges to buy things like Dragonchain or ZClassic. Those were good investments, but I didn't realize at the time that holding some steem power gives me more influence on the platform.
But I wanted to ask you about networking. I have waded through HUNDREDS of horrible, spammy, misspelled posts with bad grammar. I'd love to network more on here but so much of it is just lazy or bad.
I'm a filmmaker and a blogger. So I work hard on my travel posts, my videos and my documentary reviews. I post everything here that I post on my blog, and I put out content related to art, film, travel or photography three times a week, week in and out, even with my full time job as a camera tech on Hollywood movies. BUT, due to the fact that I find so little good content on here (present company excluded), I'm finding that my posts are not really being read. Sure, there's an occasional lucky post that someone with some steem power upvotes and does well. But most have less than 5 reads.
Really, what I think so many of us need is a network of likeminded members to participate with. For example, if I could meet other filmmakers or travel bloggers here, it would be so much more enjoyable to interact. As it is, I get comments like "nice drawings" after a post about my visit to the Picasso museum. (Haha, the guy clearly didn't read).
So do you have any advice for that? Maybe a way to tap into networkers of people with similar interests?
Think of the site "meetup" for example. It's a way to find people interested in the stuff you are into. Something like that: a discord group, telegram, or something within Steemit itself that can weed out the junk, and connect the genuine people.
I don't know what the answer is, but I've followed you now and if you hear of anything like that, a m sure we'd all like to know!
Thanks for the energy you put into this!
Cheers!
J
Two factors that are very important.
This is not facebook....this should be looked at more akin to a business. Quality content cannot be stressed enough. There are too many who believe they will rake in money for posting nothing stuff. While this could work if you have a loyal, dedicated following, it is not going to work for many.
The first point, networking, points to the fact this is a social media site...something most fail to see. It is sad that this fact is missed by so many. I guess the idea of money changes it greatly for people.
Nevertheless, it is important for people to know you exist. Too many newcomers are baffled that people didnt upvote their wonderful post to the front page. Then they turn and call people on here selfish. It isnt selfishness..it is the fact that nobody knew the person even existed.
I couldn't agree more! It's all about quality content and networking. And yes, people seem to treat it differently because of the money. You need to keep working, and if no one sees your post you need to network! Thanks for the great comment :)
good post, keep it coming
Thank you for sharing good tips to help newbies start the right way building their steemit account.
Nice Post ...
Thanks for the tips you have shared with us ..

Thanks!

great post and insight. networking and good contents are key to success here as one need to build its user base and garnish them with genuine interesting contents. thanks for sharing. upped
Thank you! I completely agree, building a network here is so important. Thanks for the support!
Welcome as always
Excellent advices. Quality over quantity. On good comment can be worth more than a hundred half ass comments that don't even really relate to the post in the first place
I completely agree, thanks for the comment!
Doing really good with your posts.
Keep it up dude
Thank you!
Thanks for making this series @lukebrn! They are really helpful to me as a new steemit user.
Thank you lukebrn for making a transfer to me for an upvote of 7.98% on this post!
Half of your bid goes to @budgets which funds growth projects for Steem like our top 25 posts on Steem!
The other half helps holders of Steem power earn about 60% APR on a delegation to me!

Most people do not realise the Importance of Grammar in Posts.
A proper grammatical Post is a lot more easy to read than a Non-Grammatical One.
I have been using Grammarly for as long as I can Remember.
I love this Addon.
No matter what it is it always comes down to hard work.
If one were to commit to Steem for 90 days, within a month they'd love it.
I agree with you there! That's the approach I'm trying to get a few friends (who are hesistant to join) to take.
Thanks for taking the time to write this. Some interesting info in there for newbies like myself. Thanks again, Luke!
