I think it's really hard to judge what "Good Content" is. We are all unique in our own ways and have different tastes. One thing is for sure, people do notice when an author doesn't spend the time to think about their writing or post.

I feel that if the article seems interesting to you, someone is going to enjoy reading it. I'm sure people could just post wash articles, and Meme's like Facebook here, but it may not strike peoples interest. Steemit rides like a Premium type of place to find interesting things to read.

If I want silly Meme's or a bunch of drunk night out photo's, and to thumbs up my aunts cooking - I'd just head over to Facebook for my fix, but I will always comeback to Steemit to read meaningful articles.
