I absolutely agree with the hard work part, people join and expect it to happen immediately -just go back and look at any long term account and see how much they made with their first posts, usually not very much if anything.

Steemit is amazing and can help anyone achieve great things, but yeah there really isn't any point if you're just not willing to put in any work - people will see it and wonder why a shit post deserves a vote, when all it does is take away from everyone who does good works reward pool.
