I just can't believe how amazing steemit is, not only has it paid for my 3D pen and the first round of supplies - but now it has also paid for a bulk shipment of filaments, so I can continue to create new things for steemit.
This is so unbelievable and I am just so happy, I love the pen and the ability it gives me to be able to create whatever comes to mind.
I now have a valuable resource to help me continue to create quality content for the platform, plus the added bonus that I get to create the many wonderful creatures - that will be featured in my fantasy saga, that I am also writing on here.
I am not an artist and have very limited skills with a pen or brush, but I have been making things since I was young - the 3D pen is something I can use to create art and sculptures.
I managed to get a rather wide variety of colours this time, included two different shades of blue -so I can give an attempt at the steemit logo.
Besides a much larger variety of colours, I have been doing more research and I decided to try using ABS instead of PLA - from what I can understand, items made from ABS are sturdier and have a nicer finish that can also be painted if required.
On top of all of this I have also managed to get a few different special filaments, one UV reactive, one temperature reactive and one that glows in the dark - I just can't wait for them to arrive and to be able to get started with some new projects.
Below is my proof of purchase through @roomofsatoshi, I converted steem earnings into bitcoin and then made the transaction on their site - now I just have to wait!
Steemit has changed my life so dramatically over the past month, it is such a relief to know we are paying off debt and now starting to get to live our lives with a bit of comfort.
It is even more satisfying because I have now convinced, both my mother @aussiesteem and my sister @mumofmany to join and so far both of them are doing really well - I hope they too will soon see the massive impact steemit can have on your life.
I am anxiously awaiting the arrivals of my new goodies, with eager anticipation to get started on my future creature creations!
I have had several requests to attempt a whale next time and I have decided to give it a go, keep watching this space for updates on the whale project.
What should I try to make after I finish my whale attempt?
Check out my story
or follow me on twitter @krystlehaines
buy materials and supplies for ours hobbies or loved works is amazing! enjoy it!
I am, it is a great time to be alive and on steemit!
curious what things do you print/which printer do you use?
It was a no name 3D pen, I think it was based on the design of the scribbler v1 but I am not sure.
I did a post on the pen here, but it did just break so I got a new one which I just posted about here.
Cheers :)
Hey @krystle. There are three main products now: ABS, ABS+ and PLA. They all have there pluses and minuses. PLA is mostly organic so is not toxic but has a lower melting point so anything made from this will most likely melt in your car on a hot day (esp. here in Brissy).
ABS has a higher melting point and will hold its shape more, is stronger can be sanded and finished better. It can be toxic if eaten in huge amounts, but you would have to have a strong jaw to bite through it. ABS+ is sort of in between. Its a newer product and its properties are somewhere in between PLA and ABS.
I have been using ABS+ lately but it is harder to work with (as is ABS). I am going to start posting some technology in education stuff soon and I'll start with the 3D Printing and include some more information there. Hope that helps a bit
I have been using PLA so far, but it was really hard to find bulk suppliers offering a wide range of colours.
I ended up buying ABS as I had been watching some youtube tutorials and noticed that you can file, paint and create an all around nicer finish with it - I did not know that it was toxic though :( I was hoping to give it to my kids, but they have pica and they will eat whatever toys I give them.
I hope I can use the ABS and I haven't just spent a bunch of money on something, that is a lot harder to work with.
Anyways only time will tell how I go with it, cheers for letting me know the differences - I will look into ABS+ might be safer around the kids, but not sure it's well stocked in Australia might have to get it shipped in.
Cheers :)
Hi @Krystle. I have some contacts and suppliers we use for 3D printing supplies and they have access to all sorts of filaments. Happy to DM details if you like. Most will supply to private customers too.
As for the ABS, you need to eat a lot of it to get sick. The PLA digests easier too as its organic (if eaten)
hey @krystle, steemit is truly a revolutionary platform isn't it? It's already given me more gains than i could've imagined i would get.
i think your 3d art is cool too, i want to see more cool creations. a whale sounds cool, or maybe a unicorn? :D
Peace and blessings!
Thanks and yes that platform is unlike anything else, I think my family now have the steemit bug too - they can't get enough of it and it's all we talk about now :)
I started to try a unicorn and so far the attempts are laughable, I will stick at it as I'm still learning but I have some ideas on new tactics to approach this idea.
Cheers :)
..i didnt even know that they exist......looks like i live behind the moon...lol....
you learn something everyday ....
im sure you gonna have fun with it.....
It's surprising how many people aren't aware of them, I found out a while ago and didn't have high hopes of their effectiveness - but I am happy to say they are pretty good.
yes as im one of them.........
maybe you can make a blog and show it...???if you have time and want to do it...one day.....
it would give a better idea to people how that "thing"works......including me....lol....
cheers
I'm so excited for you. I can't wait to see all the wonderful posts you will make with your purchases. Congrats! :)
Thanks I am pretty excited too, lots of new creatures coming soon I'm sure.
Cheers :)
Hey, just so you know, your niece is very keen for a turn with your 3D pen. She saw your lovely tree and is now hounding her poor mother for one of her own!
Well if you create an account for her, you could post her art and work on her behalf and she could save and buy her own one day - just saying :P
Whatever you make I'm sure it will be awesome. Maybe some fantasy character or creature.... I'm interested to see what you come up with
There is a specific character from my story I'm very keen to have a go at creating, the trick will be if it turns out anything like I picture it in my mind - Cheers :)
I think it's time I introduce steemit to my creative cousin who is a high school freshmen. she loves to draw anime figures.
Definitely there is a large art community on here and photography, but I think anyone creatively inclined would thrive on the platform.
You should get her here :)
How exciting!! Well done! I vote Unicorn ;)
Is it hard to use? Ive seen them in the shops and they look so cool.
Very exciting and thank so much!
I've been trying for a unicorn but so far my attempts are terrible but it's all a learning process, it is fiddly and difficult especially to start a new piece.
Cheers :)
You'll get there š
right on
Cheers :)
Hi @krystle I'm really happy for you because you can now pay off your debt, it's a huge problem for the Youth, even for me, it's YUGE !!
Money is the bane of most people's existence, it forces to work harder than we should just to live - people should be doing what they love the world would be a nicer place for it.
yes that's where i'm now, i hate my day job, but i'm trying to escape !!
I vote for a minnow after the whale, being that me and @mumofmany are minnows and looking forward to seeing these goodies in person too
I will see what I can do mum, I have a feeling there will be a lot of steemit themed creations in my future :)
Good for you @krystle, how many projects could you do with a 1kg roll of filament?
Not as many as you'd think at least not for me yet, I think as I get more familiar I will use less to acheive the same effect - but i have almost used all of my filament already, can't wait for the rest to arrive.
Sound like it could get quite expensive very quickly once you get more creative with your new toy. I guess over time like everything the prices should come down. Cheers
Howdy @Krystle,
Congrats on your success, how about a Minnow next!
Thanks so much, I have had a few requests for a minnow - will see what I can do :)
Steemit did help people and community, and for me, this platform give me spirit to find new idea to create good content
Exactly the platform inspires your creative impulses, and if you still can't think what to post there's plenty to take in as a consumer too :)
So happy to see this!! I'm quite new here, but I'm so excited!! Can't wait to make my first art supply!! ;)
It's amazing on here, it can take time I'm 11 months in now and finally starting to see some real progress - good luck with it and keep at it :)
Dreams come true, congratulations!
Exactly, I never thought this would happen and yet here I am - and I'm loving it :)
Totally worth it :D
Yep :)
Anyone who loves to create and has thst passion or drive is an artist. Artistry is not how perfect and detailed and "correct" the art looks. Your passion and drive for your creations is what makes you an artist. I still believe drawing or any medium of art can be taught. You learn how to see the different shapes and perspectives to create your masterpiece. I'm glad i stumbled apon your post, not sure why it just gave me even more motivation to strive hard here on Steemit. Been having to much bad luck but with hard work things turn around. Thanks for the great post and I'm very happy Steemit is working well for you, looking forward to seeing your future art work and what this pen can do. :) have a great day and Steem on!!!
Oh wow thank you so much, I appreciate it more than you know - but I would still like to be able to recreate exactly what I envision in my mind, maybe when I can do that I will think of myself as an artist. :)
Steemit is amazing for inspiring people to follow their passion, when you truly enjoy something it shines through and people notice and then great things can happen :D
Well said, I am hoping my hard work here helps me with my art endeavors as well the same ways it helped you. It's really great to see so many passionate people on here in a very positive light. Looking forward to more work from you! PS your still an artist :P
Hi Krystle, I'm really happy for you! Its really inspiring to see people making good money from their contribution.
As a side note, I don't think you should use that screenshot of your banking info with your name and account number. I'm not 100% sure but I think that information can be used in identity theft. I'd advise you to take it down, just to be safe.
at the very least it could be used for phishing phone calls where someone pretends to be your bank and try to get information from you so they can empty your accounts.
A good note on security is, if it's personally Identifiable seriously consider your options before posting. In your situation it would be best to black out your account number and your confirmation number.
Very cool on your payout though and i hope you have even more success in the future!
As I mentioned in my reply to the last guy, those are not my banking details - as I said in the post I sold steem for bitcoin it never even became cash and the money never even touched my account thanks to @roomofsatoshi's service.
I have been on here for 11 months and involved in crypto for many many years now, I know not to put my own bank details on the internet - but I do thank you for the concern and kind words.
Lol If you read the post carefully I detail how I bought the stock - it's not my banking information the money never even touched my bank account.
I used steem that I sold for bitcoin then paid through a proxy service @roomofsatoshi - it's the banking info of the company I bought the filament through and readily publicly available information on their site, the site never even had access to my banking info.
But I appreciate the concern and cheers for the comment :)
Ah got it, no worries!
Awesome, I am considering pulling out some $$$ to get a macro camera lens. it's great that steemit can provide us artists with a means of acquiring more art supplies for sharing our art. It's a truly Amazing place I am proud to be a part of :D
Sorry for the late reply, steemit is amazing being able to spend money on art supplies is something I have never been able to justify until now.
Steemit is changing the lives of so many, it is amazing to be a part of.
Look forward to seeing your creations.
More coming soon :)
Very good :) I hope soon you have more :)
Thanks and more very soon I hope :)
Soon :))
Awesome to see how steem has helped you , looking forward to see your work with the 3D pen
Steem is amazing, with time and effort anything is possible - just don't lose heart or focus :)
Congratulations. Looking forward to your first 3D pen Steemit art!
I have already made a tree that I'm pretty happy with for a first attempt.
Awesome. Enjoy that!
Epic! Thanks for sharing.
No worries
Yay! Good for you!
Thanks
