I've seen that popular users have a great avatar that stands out. Since today I start my conquest of attaining the position of Whale God King, I figured a new avatar would be a great first step.
In the artwork above I tried steal some of that @stellabelle swag. Although I look damn good, it doesn't seem right.
Then I tried to recreate @shayne's avatar style with that "I-hate-kryptik-because-he's-far-superior-in-every-way-and-secretly-I-idolize-him", pouty expression. It didn't seem right either.
My current avatar is a photo of me, and I originally used it only as a gag. I thought it gave off a really cool "rape-y" vibe, so I still roll with it.
In my personal circles, I probably take the least selfies of anyone I know. I don't understand this human interaction stuff.
Can you all help me?

That's not true...... I know it can feel that way sometimes. I feel that way about my stuff and my videos. The post will even sometimes do decent money wise and then it will be like I have 10 views on the video according to YouTube. But o well I guess. lol
That's why I haven't done video.
I don't think anyone watches them lol.
Some people's videos I watch pretty regularly. But yeah I know what you mean. People actually watched my video more when I didn't put as many words in the post.
I remember one time fyrstikken had like 400 votes and 20 views on his YouTube video. He spent a lot of time on those variety shows.

The style is great, just go with some colours that contrast with the steemit design maybe? And can anyone help me change my profile pic, i used an imgur link but it doesn't work. How do you add it to the steemit library or something?

I would say the 100% most important thing about an avatar is that it speaks to you after that...I dunno :P I do my best not to over-complicate things.

Maybe a picture of a whale wearing a crown, on a cloud or surrounded by whale angels, to depict your desired title of "Whale God King." :)
Great idea. It'll be hard with the image size constraints but I may figure it out.
