Over the last few months, I have kept seeing challenges all over the place especially inside Facebook Groups. Yes, I still visit Facebook, that is where my main audience is. So I was wondering if challenges help you to focus since that is my biggest issue with succeeding in my business. It got me thinking maybe I should do one?
When you start something new like learning a new skill, starting a new hobby, or business. You are enthusiastic and can not wait to get started.
That is me! Then I lose focus and start going down another path very quickly, whether through boredom or finding something difficult.
Now, this doesn't help when I am creating a business online including products for a completely new niche.
So how did I get around this?
It's simple I joined two challenges. One for 6 weeks Monday to Friday and the other for 30 days again Monday to Friday.
Now it also helps that I am a good student.
The idea of having homework was appealing. Lessons first then set tasks that needed to be finished before moving on. In essence building a blueprint, or a checklist and actually watching over a successful person shoulder as they build a business or how they learn a new skill step-by-step.
Learning the skills is the easy part, but do I understand the skills, can I implement them myself. Now that is the challenge.
One of the great benefits that I am finding is that I am not suffering from being overwhelmed and if I run in to difficulties I can also ask either the person running the challenge or others in the community who is doing the challenge too.
Examples of challenges I have seen is writing two Steemit posts a day. 30 Day weight loss challenge and 30 day list building challenge.
If you notice most challenges are over 30 days. Why? Mainly because some scientist says it takes a minimum of 21 days to break an old habit and create a new habit. So even though I am doing two challenges they are both to do with my business and are related.
For me to finish each task in time, I have had to create a new habit. That of completing work, when everybody in the household is either watching TV, gone to sleep or before they get up in the morning.
I always tell my students don't expect A grades if you don't put in the work. You may see one student messing about in class and wonder how they get great grades. They spend hours later doing the work, while you watch TV or hang about your mates.
Back to the question does challenges help you to focus.
Yes if you take part and take action. It's like anything they only work if you do the work.
Enjoy

I love challenges, and most of the time they help me stay focused and get things done. Just last week, I did a 5-day curation challenge, and I blogged every day for five days. It was fun and I got the posts done because of the challenge.
That is what I am finding, it is keeping me focused and also giving me mini-deadlines to work to. Well done on completing the challenge.
Thank you :)
Have you noticed any particular length of the challenge that works best for you?
What you have written makes a lot of sense. Writing two posts a day for steemit can be a challenge, but it can depend on what those posts contain. For example, one of my posts each day is the serialization of a book that I wrote a few years back, so that is just copy and paste. If you can find something that both you and fellow steemians are interested in, you are on to a winner.
Congratulations @kezza! You received a personal award!
