Sorry but I don't get it. What do you mean we are earning interest by holding Steem Power?

As I covered in episode 13, 15% of all new STEEM are split between everyone holding SteemPower in their accounts (based on how much they hold).

This is designed to help protect people's investments against the daily inflation of STEEM.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I guess there is no way to see when you receive some amount of steem power as interest. The value just gets added to your SP.

It isn't something that gets added. It happens through the STEEM/Mvest constantly increasing. SteemPower isn't actually something you have, it's a calculation of the current Steem value of the number of vests you hold. Right now, it's somewhere around 490 Steem/Mvest, and in a year it will be over 500, so the same number of vests will be worth more STEEM.

Got it. Thanks for the explanation.

The more your steem power, the higher your share in the curation reward of any post you upvote. Which is also payed with steem and will be wutomatically to ur wallet

This I know. The higher the steem power, the higher the curation rewards you get.

That was so, sooooo useful, Kenny. Thank you! (I didn't know any of that!)

You've probably answered this question a couple times, but, I always wonder if I am doing myself a disservice by being so free with my up votes. Am I losing "money" by up voting so freely? It really doesn't matter to me at this point because I am not creating content to up vote, but I wonder for the future..... Also, I was wondering if I lost out on a good thing when my steem value was higher, I get confused by the "Estimated Account Value" portion of the Wallet.

You aren't losing anything, but if you are voting too much, your vote becomes worth less and less because each vote burns some "voting power", which regenerates at a set rate. I broke this stuff down in episodes 1 & 5.

Thank you. Im working my way through the series at home. I read your articles (mostly) but usually dont watch the videos because I read them at work. So yes, thank you for all of this. Ive been spreading the word about you and Steemit and I've got a lot of enthusiasm, but little understanding... must be a Mustang thing j/k

Great explanation, Kenny. It is so easy to confuse all these things as Steemit gives very little explanation about what is going on in the wallet. Especially the interest on Steem Power and the curation rewards creating a form of passive income are often misunderstood.

Thanks @flauwy! I keep finding more and more of those things, that I take for granted after 2 years here, then realize that there's nothing really telling people what the heck it means or how it works.

Kenny this has nothing to do with the video, but you look AWESOME man!

Haha, thank you!

Thank you for clarifying all of this information! I finally redeem my rewards and realized I had the equivalent of almost $100 usd in Steem! Feeling super motivated to share more of my he-art on here and escape this wage slavery Babylonian capitalist system

Far more than that actually bro, SteemDollars are currently worth almost $1.75 on the open market, but Steemit.com just always shows them as though they are $1 (they have a "downward peg" so even if they're trading for 10 cents on exchanges, you can still get $1 worth of steem for them in the system)

Great. Excatly anwswers my question to "what this button is", and somehow it wasnt that easy to find ge answer.

Ya, there are a lot of those little things in Steemit, where the explanation is waay too hard to find.

Wow, I had no idea about this. Thank you Kenny! So much good advice, again and again!
