And now you guys have Bots doing your dirty work for you ! Not only that but your constantly asking for upvotes / follows / resteems , in private messaging , as well as on steemit chat post promotion over and over , its relentless really ! And makes me not want to upvote / resteem / or follow you ever !!! Please STOP begging everyone for upvotes , its getting you no where , in fact i'm more likely to mute you because i'm tired of being bothered about it all the time ! I'm sure that's why most veterans are not on here much anymore like they used to be !!

I know exactly what you mean about the garbage posts and fake comments. I don't have lots and lots and lots of posts because I've been trying to create original content or at least write about events in my own words rather than just copy and paste from online sources.
I have also noticed that some of the comments (not that I get a whole lot) on my posts are fake. Just generic comments that will on any post or at least into a topic.

At first i thought I would be nice and help out people with low reputation but then my inbox was blowing up asking me to upvote posts that I would end up getting .01 cent on mine. It takes me days to put together a post but yet I see some people posting multiple times a day, everyday. That makes me question the content.
@ptmikesteem I kinda know what you mean about it taking you some time (can be days) to put together good content. Some of this depends on how we are living. If some us have 9 - 5 (or any hours) jobs then it can be VERY difficult to get put together a good post. If some of us are more independent and have learned to make money on their own time, or have bought assets which makes us money, (no punching the clock and grinding away for the boss) we have much more free time and with that often more free creative energy in us to write.
Family is a factor too. Kids. Or taking care of elderly parents/grandparents. There are so many factors. So its really difficult to tell by just judging by the amount of content someone is publishing.
It could be that they have the free time and energy to do that or it could indicate that they are just pumping out garbage which took very little, if any, effort and brainpower to create.
I did the same and the same thing happened to me as well ! I mean sure sometimes I put up some quick posts like when im entering a contest ! Which I do a lot LOL! But the bots spamming my comments is driving me crazy !! Thanks for your awesome reply !!πππ

I can usually find at least 1 quality or interesting post each hour from the three hundred and something people I follow. They are pretty great actually!

Excellent advice. In my first week on steemit I've found that I make the most money by putting 1-2 hours of work into a single post. My highest reward has been $46 worth in 12 hours and i poured my heart out about my wife, her birthday and our fun weekend together at a local state park with good and unique pics (yoga pictures at the waterfall and some racy pics of my wife in her swimsuit).
My very limited experience has taught me that quality >>>>>> quantity and one should leave the post there and not do the upvote / resteem bartering that you talked about. Thanks for confirming my take on quality posting. Sad to hear that spam is clogging veterans' feeds. I hope my posts are viewed as quality material as I put a lot of effort into them and I truly want to learn how to create quality content that contributes to the community in a positive way.

Well stated! Have you seen the recent people who's goal is to follow every single user on here? I dislike that too. I'm not sure what the point of following every person is. You'd never have time to go through your feed and read and thoughtfully respond to hardly anyone. I wish I could keep those kinds of people from following me!

that was a well said rant. I completely agree. I think there was a time I to begged for votes however I grew out of it and am now also frustrated by those people. You build your following the old fashioned way. I an not as high as you but I would not have gotten to a 50 by begging. I try to do quality posts today. However what may be quality to one may not be to another. What perplexes me is at about 385 followers I hear from VERY FEW of these people. Where are they???? I have about a dozen true followers. Don't know where the rest are. Do they see my blogs or are they too busy getting more upvotes from additional new followers? I follow about 70 people. You my friend are one of them. I totally agree.
While I am a newbie, I have been trying to stick to the "steemit etiquette" as much as possible. It's pretty irritating when you spend a lot of time on a post and it instantly get's buried by a wave of random short-lived content and is only commented on by what are obviously bots. This is particularly true of the very popular tags such as photography or life, where people seem to use it as a dumping ground for any kind of vaguely related content.
I am hopeful though, as I believe steemit is only just coming out of its infancy and will develop solutions to those problems as it grows and improves.

I think, when people who are already established , if they spend some time to look at newbies posts and only support them who do not spam, or who write on their own, will change the trend.
Because when a new person is joining, he gets many such comments and its obvious to get trapped. So if the guys who already have gone to the top, spend some time, to filter out the good ones and promote only them, then only this will change.
Artificial Intelligence can never beat the Natural Intelligence. So I urge the people who are on top, set up trends to beat these bots.

Well said Karen, it is getting much harder to find good stuff in Steemit, I also blame the newly arrived in their rush to earn millions (not possible in a week/month/year).
I think the buy your upvote bots have a big influence on this behaviour too, many accounts just throw up a copy & paste or use undredited images then buy an upvote cha-ching free money while p!ssing off the majority of Steemit community with garbage.
If this goes on too long, Steemit will end up losing it's longer term members who will just up and take their STEEM & SBD and leave...this will leave Steemit with a platform full of trash mostly.
As it is Steemiit is slowliy filling with bots, upvote bots, comment bots, curation bots...what next bots that actually write the posts for the bots to vote on and drain the rewards pool.

Such a great rant - It bothers me that some steemians who dedicate very little time to their posts, seem to do much better than my posts. I still enjoy putting the time and effort into my blogs, and do get frustrated with my feed, but its easy to scroll past the rubbish and unfollow the worst offenders.... I think the urge for Steem means its always tempting to look for a quick fix........ xxx

Fortunately, Steemit's incentivization structures are so robust and encompassing that such people will run out of (haha) steam sooner or later. They won't get what they want. They literally can't.

I have been seeing quite a few vet's of steenit posting about this issue. I have only been on steemit for about a month or so and I can see that doing what you have described is no way to go about doing this! I personally will never ask or beg for someone to up vote me in anyway, it is just ridiculous in my mind. I want to earn every follower I get, I will put in the work that is necessary to gain a strong follower-ship. I want people to follow me because they agree with, or at least respect my point of view. I want them to interact with me so that I can become better at creating content, I am doing this for them not me. Of course I get something out of it, and its not just money. I get life experience, and joy when I have impacted a persons life! I love the fact that so many vet's are posting about this issue, and I deeply respect all of your efforts to stem the tide of this spam disaster! Thank You!

I've actually refreshed my 'following' list and stopped following a lot of users who were just posting nonsense on the platform! It's time consuming to check on everyone, but really worth it to get a decent home feed!

Yeah it has gotten pretty crazy and there are some users that seem to be pretty engaged but I can never tell if their content is original or not. Like I feel like they stole a bunch of artwork from someone else. But I really don't know.
I think some of the vetrans got slightly burnt out a little bit. I know for me that if I can make $100 / day on Steemit across 4 posts then I feel good about it. If I'm putting up posts that are earning $2 it makes it tougher for me to keep focusing on it because my expenses are so high and I spend too much time on here already.
Also it is really tough to keep up with my feed and try to look at all my friends posts on here. Then I feel like a rat bastards if I don't upvote. Right now my Steem voter isn't the premium service so I can only upvote 10 people and the rest I'm doing manually.
Agreed my friend ! Us veterans should be at least making over 5.00 dollars a post more like 10.00 but most of us are not , so many people are not up voting usually they are out of power like me ! Even with 1600 plus followers we are lucky to gey 50 up votes ! I t didn't used to be like this , we work our asses off to get this far after a year , and I feel like it was all for nothing sometimes ! LOL! π

This may sound weird, but before the Community Challenge I was highly annoyed with the comment spam f4f. During the challenge, I don't recall getting the comment spam. As soon as the challenge was over, bam, right back to the spam, only this time maybe they're bots.

Great insight. That's what I'm doing. Although I'm new here, I never ask anyone one upvote or even follow me. I appreciate my follower much more that way. But it's so hard that I put so much time for in writing the post and only got couple of upvotes. I got discouraged and haven't past in couple days. So, I'm Steemit newbie (convinced by a friend despite my deep reservations). However, part of my fears have just been confirmed by this post. Not sure I have the patience to stick it out but we'll see. Totally agree with @sgnsteems, there should be an etiquette guide.

So difficult to catch up on the feeds already and we still have to deal with this spamming comments and spamming link drops in the chat. I fear going chat to promo now because it's like telling people you are are and available for more spamming
I totally agree my friend ! Maybe a whale will come along and stomp them down to zero !! Something needs to be done soon , its getting worse everyday , the bot spam is driving me crazy doing the dirty work for them , on top of everything else ! Thanks for replying ! πππ

I first thought this page is spam free as I picture is as the place for someone who wants to share their genuine ideas. Thanks anyway for sharing this. It makes me more determine to create a good posts.

Why do accounts have to spam anyway....is it pure greed. Is it to (hopefully) boost eyes on their posts...
Take note that doesn't work most of Steemit hates it and will end up hating those doing it. Spamming = no upvotes, no follows, no resteems, very soon no reputation either.
