The Random Whale Vote project is an excellent way to promote content on Steemit, and get it a higher rewards payout.
You can find the original explanation of the project here.
Here's how it works:
Transfer 2 Steem or Steem Backed Dollars to the account @randowhale.
In the "memo" field, paste the url of the post you wish to see promoted.
This post will then get a vote from the @randowhale account between 1 and 50% of the current random whale voting power. You can check current voting power here.
After you click the arrow next to "Steem Dollars" or "Steem" in your wallet, and click "transfer," you will see this menu.
The 3 posts I have randowhale'd so far:

Please remember, it's "@randO" and not "@randoM!"--"@randowhale."
I think this is a great idea, and is a powerful way to help out Steemians you feel deserve some limelight and rewards. Give it a try and pay it forward to your friends...and yourself, if you have a post you think deserves a bit more!

I'm all for self-promotion and think @randowhale is a really great opportunity for users of all size to give content they find deserving a push. Makes a great low effort gift too :p
now be super meta and randowhale your own post about how you randowhale your own post
ahahaha xD best comment so far!!
lol. almost did that, actually.
Yea rando whale is a great 🐳 account.. Sadly sometimes the power drops and you dont really get the 2SBD back in vote.
Although sometimes yoy get more than expected.
Cheers
I've gained every time so far and broken even once. Yeah, I don't know. It seems like a much better bet than the promoted page at this point in time.
Hey there, thank you for introducing randowhale to me, overall do you think it is a good investment in long term? Let say on average you should be getting like 25% of voting power. I would like to introduce you to check out @minnowsupportproject as they also help supportint the fellow steemian as well.
Great idea. Random acts of Steemians
This post received a 10% upvote from @randowhale thanks to @kennyskitchen! For more information, click here!
Thanks for spreading the good word!
#payitforward :-)
Legendary post 👍👍
Thank you for sharing. Followed & Up Voted :)
I found this about week ago, thought it was amazing and decided to test it on a post.
Only after I'd paid I realised I'd paid Steem for the whale to upvote an article over a week old which means it can't be powered up anymore...
Pro tip... don't be an ass like me and use it on posts over a week old :)
woow thats a great initiative ,thank you for sharing ,resteeming and upvoting this post.Happy steeming
Cheers, @tinashe.
thank you ,you have great posts and i cant miss them so definately following you.
@randowhale is awesome yo ! :) i used it about 2 times. Very very prompt service.
so don't get me wrong - but it seems you lost money on the three rando postings - sorry if i am missing something obvious -- i can tell your doing great on this one --i love Japan and am now following you -- all the best,David
I spent 6 SBD total (about $9.78 at current price) and made gains of around $12 in rewards added to the posts total as far as I can figure...
I may be missing something too, but I am pretty sure I came out ahead.
well done -- and thnx for following me too- i just hit 150 so that might have been you
And that sbd is worth ~1.80 on the market.
Followed back. Cheers✨
This post deserves to go viral!!!
This is an amazing idea especially for new memebrs with small reputation and steem power. Thanks for this innovative idea. Another reason why steemit is great: innovative minds like you @kafkanarchy84 , @randowhale and your team..following you, lets stay in touch
Thank @randowhale!
welcome and thanks for zour posts here, following you for more and lets stay in touch
I just noticed the randowhale account today, whilst reading another post, and thought it looked like a pretty interesting concept.
Thanks for the explanation, I might give this a try!
I tried it twice a few hours ago for a friend's post: first time was disappointing only 2%, but the second time was 46%!! Adding an additional $20 to the total...pretty awesome. I think i might try one on myself too;)
Good news for a new joiner steemians.
:O
Yes friend, It's an amazing initiative that brings the hope of getting a considerable reward boost on our post. I love it :)
I had considered this, but then I thought maybe the community would consider it a dick move to randowhale your own post? Like I was under the impression of it being like a gift, and that doing it to yourself would come off badly?
Yeah, I understand that perspective, but it is. it prohibited, and you're paying for the service.
I started off rando'ing myself for a couple posts.
Then I did a small contest promoting other minnows and orcas. The results are here.
Then I tried whaleshares and wrote this brief post comparing randowhale and whaleshare.
Part of me still thinks it is weird to purchase upvotes as it isn't an organic event. The other part of me loves seeing a creative solution to a problem earn the creator money.
I think these solutions are better than HF solutions because it decentralizes the solution to the problem of not getting rewards.
Upvoted and resteemed.
I also bookmarked this post in a "steem guide" folder on my browser.
It's the best way I've found to collect the really helpful posts in one convenient place. Otherwise I lose track, there's an awful lot of really good info that comes through my feed.
Including @kafkanarchy84 posts
Cheers for that. Glad to hear it.
My teenage son just started here and I'm hoping that he'll listen to the advice of the people in my "steem guide" folder.
Maybe I should tell him "those posts are off-limits"? ;-)
I actually just tried it and it literally gave me 0.02 cents for the upvote with 38 power.
Seema as the overabuse is holding the acc at 0 voting power..
But meh the first time i tried it it worked
Been at 30% voting power every time I have tried, but yeah, they do specify that you should check the current voting power before using.
I think it actually doesn't vote on some of the posts..
But im using the esteem app and it gives upvotes on commenters i recomend giving it a go..
It is extremely beneficial.
Cheers and much love
It has voted on every post I tried. It doesn't vote on posts in their final twelve hours before payout, however.
I looked, and you asked it to vote on a comment that was already 7 days old!
You can't add value with an upvote the last 12 hours before payout.
So you wasted that $2 Steem.
The randowhale left a message saying that it voted. But the post value would not have increased.
I upvoted some of your content to help you out.
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing @kafkanarchy84 Rando whale the whole family. Keep BOOMIN!
How much you get from him for this post?
From whom? @randowhale? Nuthin' but the cool idea and some nice promotion and help for friends for 2 SBD 🔥🔥🔥
Would love to do this as soon as I can afford it, lol :P
Me too
Upvoted your post friend.
Great idea. This is a great way of supporting deserving bloggers. Will certainly do it when I accumulate some steem power and steem dollars in my account. @randowhale is doing a great job and we will help to spread the message.

Great post, good luck :)
nice post GG
please revisit it :D I think it's great for whales because their posts are worth a lot, for a minnow it's not really worth it, since I just spent 6usd to get a return of ~3 and the whale will get curation rewards, it's an interesting thing to play around with, but you shouldn't expect a return out of it if you are a minnow.
Did you check the voting power before you used it? This is an important detail.
It is a lottery, which I have found to pay out well. You have to check the current vote power, though, as specified in @randowhale's post.
I did it was around, no 33% so it's a bad time I agree, still you need a payout and th
en you might get return in time anyways :D
Not tried this, but we should do an experiment. Everyone here promote my posts and see how well they do. I mean I'm just doing my bit for the community. 😀
@kafkanarchy84 what does @randowhale bring in other then an upvote which only worth around $0.01 does it also bring in more votes from other whales does it covers the 2 steems we give to randowhale
