Today I created an account on behalf of my son @kilianmiguel to give it to him when he turns 16.
For me it has been like opening an account in a savings bank (I want to save money to him there) but of course better.
I, personally, have full confidence in the future of Steemit. Not only because it has been almost a year since I wrote my first post or because I personally met many Steemians in the first edition of SteemFest but also because of all the development that there is almost daily in the Steemit ecosystem.
And because of all this constant development to open the account was also much faster than in a bank.
Thanks to @ busy.org and the new tool SteemConnect. Thanks also to @timcliff for the excellent article on SteemConnect and the tutorial on how to open an account. Recommended if you want to know how I did it and you want to do the same for some family member or friend.

Besides that the account will gain "interest" for the votes as well, not only will have the money that I will send from time to time. And well, when my son has control of his account at the age of 16, I imagine he will write his own articles and earn his own money.
So it seems to me the best decision by whatever side you look at. :)
Steem-On!
Follow me @juanmiguelsalas
Brilliant! Much better than any bank account and making history! ;-)
And in constant development! I can not imagine what it will be implemented at Steemit in 9 years. Thanks @itsmein3d :)
Brilliant idea!
Thanks a lot @fernandam :)
Your son is now a future steemit whale....
make sure he knows the value of steemit so he doesnt just power down and cash it out when he gets it like a kid selling a house they inherited when they could rent it out and make more!
:) Thanks @ackza! Im trying to let him know ;) He already knows about it, told him today and he knows about the money and that it is a saving account... lets see...
Le estas regalando lo más importante, la libertad. Gran idea
Me encantó eso :) Muy bien dicho @spainman! Muchas gracias!
Great idea.
You're a great dad!
hahaha Thanks @rhino :)
I have been waiting for this !!! Let's get the little one blogging away! Thanks ;-) steem on!
I will let him when he is old enough to understand what Im giving to him ;) Thanks to u for the comment @marcosespes1!
Very good idea. Better then any bank account ;-)
I agree with you :)
100 times better :)
Resteemed :-)
Thanks a lot!!! :)
you are very welcome @juanmiguelsalas :-)
Love it! Futuristic Parenting :)
Futuristic Parenting... I like how that sounds :) Thanks @mrs.steemit!
What a great idea, my daughter age 14 want to blog to! Thank you
There you go already thinking about the future!
We should do it from time to time ;) Thanks for the comment @adriansky.
This is a BRILLIANT idea. I need to do this. Thanks for the inspiration.
You are welcome @hanshotfirst! That is the spirit :) and thanks for the comment!
Very creative idea! :)
Thanks @breakingtonight :)
I did this also for my daughter. You are a smart dad.
Hey @stellabelle and @juanmiguelsalas, i'm just wondering if you have any thoughts about the implications of putting your children out there on the internet. Like, will you be updating these pages with the things your children are doing? I've been reluctant to post pictures of my kids....I'm not totally sure why, it's just a feeling of not wanting to expose them or something. Does this make any sense?
Please know that I'm not being critical, I'm really just trying to get your sense of things because I would like to set up a "savings" like this for them but am not sure what it entails and so I'm hesitant. I'd love to hear what ya'll or anyone else thinks...
Hey @anarchrysalis it makes a lot of sense what you say, Im just opening the account and will wait til he is old enough to understand the implication of a "social media" life ;) . My idea is to send the reward that I receive in one of every 3 of my posts in the future to the saving account (this post included of course). If I want to share here activities that I do with my son, photos and so on I do with my profile as I have done til now... He is still to young! :) It is just a saving account for now.
Nice man, so I think I get it - it's more of a place to just bank some Steem wealth for your son for the future rather than a place to catalog all of your son's activities and display his life for everyone. Does that sound accurate?
Pretty much! :)
And thanks for the re-Steem too! :) I just saw it now.
You are also a smart mom @stellabelle ;) Good to see Im not alone. Thanks for the comment! :)
What a great idea to save some for your little kid! Being a dad is really the best feeling if you can give your kid something of value for the future. (not only moneywise of course)
This Im trying the best I can in this crazy world we are living now, it is not so easy as it looks sometimes. But i think Steemit is a good long term solution and not only because of the money. All I write here is a bit of my knowledge he can (will) get later reading the posts. They will be always there, on the Blockchain. :)
As I am a curious person I will follow your journey on this bumpy steem ride for your son. Cheers!
Doing the same :) Cheers! (Im also a curious person too)
That is a good idea. Good thinking sir. Are you planning on blogging under this account at all...or what are you doing to make it grow...i might be missing a little piece of the puzzle here. I shall follow you though...help out however little I can!
Thanks @meme.for.steem for your comment and the follow :) At the moment I do not think I will post in his account but I will use the Voting Key to vote in his behalf. He can get the reward from the curation. And maybe we can make some posts together in the future. Who knows? I already give him a small digital camera as a present two weeks ago and now he need to learn how to use it... Who knows what happens? ;)
Also I will be sending the liquid SBD I get of 1 every 3 post to his account too as SteemPower. I forgot to mention that :)
This is a fantastic idea!
Yes! And on second thought, I should have done it really long ago. But it is never late if the idea is good :) Thanks @sethlinson for the comment!
Congratulations dear friend @juanmiguelsalas for this great initiative and this inspiring message. Thank you very much for sharing this great idea
have a nice week
Thanks a lot @jlufer! :) Glad you like the post, the idea and the message. Have a nice weekend you too.
Wow, so cool!
Hey @timcliff I want to personally thank you! Without your post about
SteemConnect and the tutorial I would never have had this idea. I am very bad with programming (hard reality lol :P) and creating a new user was too complicated if you already had one for me. Thanksssssss! :)
Awesome!
Great idea for your son, and good for you for knowing the value in the future of Steemit!
Thanks a lot @timbo!!! :) And only crazy people have not realized the value of Steemit :D Steem-On!
Sadly most of the world doesn't even know what steemit is.
It is true... for now. ;)
This kid is going to be the next steemillionaire.
hahahaha for to make me a proud Steem-Father! Thanks @donchate :)
nice idea! awesome
Thanks @businesswri! Glad you like the idea :)
Upvoted. Get that kid on the money buzz. Yeah, sure, health is wealth and money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cars and houses, so it's good stuff. :) Greets
hahahaha Greets to you @condra and thanks for your comment and up-vote :)
What a great idea! I have a 17 years old son, who is not interested in Steemit yet. I hope he will change his mind.
Well, honestly I do not know if my son will be interested or not in Steemit in the future... I hope yes ;) But at least he will have the money saved in Steem Power and can make Power Downs and use it in whatever he want... Is my idea. Thanks @kalemandra for the comment! :)
What a super cool idea. Maybe more and more parents will take notice and do something this forward-thinking.
Thanks @wthomas! Happily I am not the first to have this idea. There are already several who have done it. And surely more will in the near future :)
Wise decision to save his financial freedom
That is why I will give it to him when he is 16. So he can understand that I am giving him freedom :) Thanks @uwelang
Love it! I just remember hearing stories of someone's grandpa buying stock in Coke during the 50's and giving it to them later in life for a big gain. Great stuff. Plus, I feel it shows the value of saving, investing and thinking for the future to your son. Good luck and best wishes!
Thanks a lot for your nice comment and best wishes @elderfinancial :)
No thank you @juanmigueslsalas. I am brand new to steemit and want to resteem your post. How do I go about doing so?

And thanks for the re-steem :)
