Build SteemJ into Busy.org, ChainBB, or eSteem?

in #steemit7 years ago

Will we add a freelancer marketplace to our existing Steem apps because this will provide the value of SteemJ while building our existing communities? The basic idea of SteemJ is a freelancer marketplace built on the Steem blockchain because of the ability to attract new users to Steem looking for jobs, to reward clients for posting jobs, and to help us each connect here for providing services to each other.

We have shown huge support for the desire to build a place where it is easy to post jobs and get hired for jobs on Steem as seen in the previous posts!

  1. 2000 Steem Prize! Develop SteemJ.com for Steemit Freelancing!
  2. SteemJ for Freelancing Week 1 Update: Key Features + Income!
  3. Steem's First Freelancing Marketplace is Online at www.steemj.com!

We began with a 2,000 Steem prize to develop a functional prototype at http://www.steemj.com which @sarasate won! The problem has come in taking the next step following the crowdsourced marketing protocol by @andrarchy. The question "Why build another Steem app when we already have several?" has guided a change from making SteemJ a new app into a feature request for existing app!

From Competition to Collaboration!

eSteem by @good-karma, ChainBB by @jesta, and https://busy.org by @ekitcho, @fabien, @nil1511, @p0o, and @yamadapc already have users and enhanced functionality versus using steemit.com. Meanwhile, @steemgigs already organizes posts by freelancers offering services. Would the most logical step be to see if one or more of these projects which already is adding massive value to Steem would like to build in a freelancer marketplace because we have clearly communicated that we would like this by the support of previous SteemJ posts?

Key Features!

  1. Ability to post and browse jobs along with including existing @steemgigs. ChainBB already has a #steemgigs forum and could expand slightly by adding another forum for #jobs or expanding the @steemgigs forum to also include clients wanting jobs done. In eSteem, a custom post type might allow for posting @steemgigs with added meta data that could natively be browsed in the app allowing for a gig sort based on price, location, etc. The busy.org marketplace could accommodate jobs and allow them to be created through a post to Steem.
  2. A system to provide communication with the job poster and/or feedback on the user experience related to working for a client which could include messaging, featuring comments, ratings, and/or reviews. I think busy.org is already working on private messaging and a marketplace which would have most of these features. ChainBB already allows posts to come back up to the top with conversation which is ideal for a job format where the client and freelancer could communicate directly on the post. A forum could be added just for completed jobs shared by the freelancer as a portfolio with comments by the client. eSteem could include private messaging or a section of the app just for gig and job posts.
  3. An enhanced profile which would allow the user to pin posts like a resume and/or choose featured comments such as a job review from a client and/or show the amount of jobs/gigs completed successfully as a client and/or freelancer. For example, ChainBB already has its own profile layout at https://beta.chainbb.com/@jerrybanfield as does https://busy.org/@jerrybanfield meaning for either of these it might be relatively easy to add a couple additional features compared to building an entirely new app!

Next Steps?

  1. If you would like to support the development of a freelancer marketplace into an existing app, would you please make a comment below because we can work together here to get the features of SteemJ online within an app we already love in the comments?
  2. When Busy.org or ChainBB or eSteem agrees to build the marketplace in the app, I will submit a growth project asking for funding from Steemit to support the developer's investment in the expansion of the app to be paid when the features above are added.
  3. After the SteemJ functionality is built into the existing Steem app, I will then consistently promote using that app to access the freelancer marketplace and post any new jobs I have there also. For example, I will run an ad on Facebook and YouTube directly to the eSteem, ChainBB, and/or busy.org for freelancers and clients to join us on Steem!

My God, i should party on too

Jerry is a really blessed guy and i envy his life, though i'm just 19 and i think by the time i clock his age i will have done more than what he's doing

I like @jerrybanfield 's enthusiasm

The detractors (flaggers) are getting lazier. I don't even see a comment rant here!

Is that good or bad?

I take it as a positive sign they are losing "Steem". (see what I did there)

If the anger that causes the insults and tirades fades, eventually I assume the flags would too, since they have an opportunity cost.

Ah yes I am not much fun to hate on given I generally respond with understanding, love, and acceptance because I once was an epic hater myself. Much more fun to get into it with those that will fight back. I am mean I agree with the comments and feedback what else is there to say?

It's a great means of nullifying the post-argument, schadenfreude-like satisfaction that "hating" can otherwise achieve.

Sometimes, I do miss my days of being much more argumentative, however...

i dont

I am expecting the Steemit version mobile app.

Hey ,
Thanks for the great content

Thanks for adding this post. It does offer great points and ideas. It also reminded me of a few thoughts I had on these subjects. If there is going to be any successful marketplaces I would like for them to be better aligned for mobile use. I see a lot of apps and sites that are not as mobile friendly as the designers think. I know I am not the only one out there that uses mobile a lot and it is frustrating when you try to use something and it takes too long to load or it is chopped into several lines with half on one side of the page and the other half in the middle. Also having a better way to view on apps like esteem, don’t get me wrong, I love the esteem app but if I am reading something and want to go back to the list to check out something else it takes me all the way back to the top of the list and I have to start all over. I think a freelance app, website or group should be split into the people searching for the work and people looking for a freelancer. If they are just put into the same area it is hard for someone searching to distinguish gigs wanted to gigs looking for people. Just my personal opinions because I keep the basic idea of designing with the KISS (keep it simple stupid) method. Get the point across and information accessible to the user in the least amount of clicks possible or you will lose their attention.

Becca thank you very much for sharing your experience with eSteem and the recommendation to make a mobile friendly user experience for these marketplaces!

My pleasure. Just trying to give different perspectives. I wish everyone involved great success with it.

This is exciting project. Looking forward for this.. Thanks @jerrybanfield

I have been using steemgigs tag for my coaching services. Are you coordinated with that tag? I think they also have something like steemuniversity - but it is hard to keep up with all these ideas!

Honestly, there are a lot to explore with steemit that if you spend all day trying, you might still not get all explored. I'm glad to be here

I feel the same way - I often ignore what I don't understand here - just for my sanity.

As both a freelancer and a small business owner who outsources, I am eagerly following the updates on these new features!

Congrats on being a witness @jerrybanfield ! Really enjoy your posts!
I'm already making a few bucks as a designer on microjobs sites like fiverr. Can't wait to search for jobs on these "steemian" platforms. Steem is taking over!

Thanks Jerry for sharing your experience, the key features are great.

I guess with time so many different kind of things can be incorporated using the steem blockchain and that is an ideal thing to think about and rhink about all the possibilities that will open to everyone.

Hello @jrrybanfield please follow and vote me @bilqis07

A freelancer marketplace could be very powerful and could blow this thing up completely - disrupting Upwork! One of the main reasons I want to hodl steem is because I believe in Dan - the person. I also believe EOS will be a good long term "investment" because of Dan regardless of what everyone else says. Watch, one day Dan could allow EOS to be used on Steemit, lol. Wouldn't that be something. When everyone is scared - buy, when everyone's confident - sell. Thanks for all you do @jerrybanfield

Congratulations @jerrybanfield!
