PD: For my friends who do not speak spanish! :)
The Caroni river is the second most important river and has now become a strategic reserve of fresh water for Venezuela. The Caroní River is born from the confluence between the Kukenan River and the Yuruaní River, approximately 182 km from the birth of the Kukenan River and 770 km from its mouth on the Orinoco River.

Union between the Rio Orinoco and Rio Caroní
Thanks to the abundant flow of the Caroní River, and because it is seated on a rocky and compact soil, which in turn belongs to the great Guayanese massif and having a steep slope, it has become an opportunity to unite the ingenuity of men with the strength of Nature and result in hydroelectric power generation.
Hydroelectric dam Macagua
The Macagua hydroelectric dam officially known as Antonio Jose de Sucre is the smaller dam downstream of the Caroní river, this dam is made up of 3 power plants, such as:
Macagua I consists of 6 turbines generating power of 384 MW.
Macagua II, which contains 12 turbines generating power of 2592 MW.
Macagua III which contains 2 generating turbines that give a power of 176 MW.

This dam not only represents a power generating plant vital to the country but is a tourist icon of Ciudad Guayana, due to its location because it is in the middle of the city and in turn crosses the avenue Leopoldo Sucre Figarela, becoming thus in a vital communication between Puerto Ordaz and San Félix (both cities make up Guayana city).

If this was not enough, this dam feeds through its spillways the two parks that are in the middle of the city as are Parque La llovizna and Cachamay Park, safe parks and full of life of both flora and fauna, of course, It is very important to have prevention when visiting these parks.
When you take your vehicle and take the avenue towards the city of San Felix or vice versa and notes like high walls of rock and earth rise above you allowing you to walk below the real level of the river Caroni is an indescribable feeling and a sensation Of how the man with the help of God first has managed to tame, so to speak, a flow that seemed indomitable and to use his strength to install 6 powerful hydroelectric power stations.
From the 24th of this month the company Corpoelect would operate the power plants decided to open together all the floodgates of these hydroelectric plants, something that was not seen for several years back and much less when at this time last year Caroni river marked critical points due to the little water it had due to the drought of three years followed by the the climactic phenomenon El Niño.
To see all the open floodgates of the dam Macagua has given a real joy to the city in these difficult times that the country experiences today.
Is this the same Orinoco the Irish singer Enya talks about in her song "Orinoco Flow"?
Yep I think so, but I do not know any other river named Orinoco
