Hello Steemit world I'm fairly new to steemit and I'm from the great state of South Dakota home of Mount Rushmore.
I figured since I'm a South Dakota boy and I like baseball I decided I would share who is on my Mount Rushmore of baseball.
- George Herman Ruth “Babe Ruth”
I think everyone should be in agreement that the Sultan of Swat should definitely be on here. For me he is number one for the simple fact he is probably the best know baseball player of all time. His numbers speak for themselves and the fact that his 714 homerun record stood for that many years before Hank Aaron took it over is amazing. Also he hit in a lot less at bats 8,399 for Babe and 12,364 for Aaron. Babe is my George Washington.
- Nolan Ryan
5,714 strike outs all time leader and 7 no-hitters all time leader enough said. He won 324 games and also had another 18 one hitters. Yes he never won a Cy Young award but if the game is on the line I would want him on the bump. The Ryan Express is my Jefferson.
- Ted Williams
The last man to hit .400 in the big leagues went into the last game of the year and was hitting .400 at the time played in the game and went 6 for 8 and hit .406 for the year. He also won the triple crown twice once in 1942 and then again in 1947. He also won six batting titles and even lost five years of playing because he served his country in the Korean War. Mr. Williams is my Roosevelt.
- Kirby Puckett
The man played the greatest game that I ever witnessed live in the sixth game of the 1991 World Series. I remember his leaping catch, him hitting the big triple, and then of course the walk-off homerun to send it to game 7. Not to mention the call by Jack Buck is still one of the most famous calls “And will see you tomorrow night”. I will never forget going to that game and it’s too bad his career got cut short by begin hit in the eye by a pitch. Kirby is my Lincoln.
Well there you go the Mount Rushmore of Baseball. So who is your Rushmore of baseball let me know if you agree with some or think I’m way out of left field on this one. Hopefully I’ll start making these Rushmore's of something to get some conversations going.
Honorable mentions – Mickey Mantle, Jackie Robinson, Willie Mays, Pete Rose, Sandy Koufax, Bob Gibson, Ty Cobb.
I have some playcards. Baseball
Thankyou @jcvanleur
You got to put Yogi Berra somewhere in there. He's got so many quotes.
When your right your right. Hey this post is never over until it's over.
Baseball is ninety percent mental and the other half is physical. (Yogi Berra)
He also won six batting titles and even lost five years of playin
