Steem Simplicity 0.17.0 Release Notes - I again feel myself a bit out of this world:)

in #steemit8 years ago

I knew about all these changes today from @silviabeneforti (thank her so much, without it I would be really surprised:) post. So, I read all this and again - is it just me or it's truthly hard to understand? I want to say from the very beginning that it's not an "angry post", I'm just trying to understand.

All the quotes are from this post.

All payouts now look at the prior 30 days of payouts to determine the share of the reward rather than the current pending rshares.

The reason for this change is twofold. 1. Looking at a 30 day decaying window reduces variance in payout due to small changes in vote densities. 2. On votes we are currently updating the comment the vote is on, every comment in the tree up to the root, and the global property object. With this algorithm we only need to update the comment, significantly reducing the amount of time spent processing votes. With this change, payouts will initially dip and then ramp up over the next 30 days until the reward fun reaches a steady state

What does that mean? As I understand it will be an averaged payout for the next 30 days on each post I publish now. Am I right? I think not, but it's everything I can understand from this paragraph.

Accounts can be created with a smaller fee and an initial Steem Power delegation. Instead of paying the entire account creation fee with Steem, creators can now pay a smaller fee (30x less) and delegate some Steem Power for 30 days. The exact amount is 5 * min_fee + STEEM_POWER == 150 * min_fee. You can pay any combination of STEEM and Steem Power along that curve (so long as the minimum fee is paid). The witness voted STEEM fee is now the minimum required STEEM fee for delegation. Witnesses should reduce their fee by 30x when the hardfork goes live to preserve the same required fee for an all STEEM account creation.

What about this? I don't remember paying for creating a steemit account... And my accunts is not that old that I could miss this feature. One more thing to mention - it's impossible (and yet impossible) to sighn up on steemit using the Ukrainian mobile phone number. It was possible at the beginning, but now it doesn't work for several months. I know that because my mother @animal-shelter tryed to create an account months ago, and it didn't work.

PoW is being removed. PoW has been broken for a long time. Very few people pay attention to it. It is dominated by the same few people and is providing very little value to Steem. Instead of investing even more time fixing it, we have decided to remove it entirely.

OK, may be my english is far away from being perfect, but it's not that bad. Proof-of-work? Am I right?

I think I'll just go on steeming and will see, how it goes. It's way too hard for me to understand the changes, but OK, I see everyone is exited, so I'll be exited about them too. By the way, I've managed to understand a few updates, and no posting linit, and the wider comment depth limit are really great new features!:) But I see from the posts that some users published for the last few hours that I'm not the only one confused with understanding the new system. May be the problem is not in the fact I'm not the native speaker:)

Sort:

Steemit is still just a little community of programmers and developers. So far to be basic-user-friendly

May be the user-friendly day will ones come:)

Happy to be helpful, @inber ^_^ About the explanations on the change, at now it's just a "technical" explanation, it's really hard to understand every point if we are not "geek". I think it's hard to understand for some native English too ;)

I'm another type of geek:) So it's really hard to me. But when it comes to the Lord of the Rings I'm the best, haha:)

Me too!!! :D
Ps: I'm watching the Lord of the Ring for the 5-6 time in these night ;)

Full version?:) I love the full one:) Where Legolas and Gimli have a drinking competition:)
And I can't even count how many times I've read all Tolkien books...:)

yes, the full version! ^_^ In the past days we have seen (i don't remember the number of times that we have seen it) the Hobbit, but I prefer the Lord of the ring (the books too ;) ). I love so much Gimli :D

I love Gimli and Aragorn:) As a little girl I thought I will marry Aragorn, haha:)

Im also trying to understand it haha thanks for this!
