RE: Scammer reported - @tripadvisor.com

Usually they send you 0.001 SBD or Steem. Which is a really small amount of money. They have your account info already, your username is your account.

Send it back, or don't it's up to you, I prefer to keep it, yes it feels dirty but if you send it back they will just use it to spam someone else, so better that we just remove their funds so it keeps costing them money rather than allowing them to send free messages.

@netuoso is tracking the scammers and puts them on a daily list:

Ah I get it now. I am so paranoid about anything crypto still. Is it an ethical way to message people? So not everything is a scam? I kind of thought there was a message part of the site and tried chat to reply but didn't find any account. I am going to have to relax a bit I think. I don't even have any money here to worry about ha I just think the password being linked with the wallet makes me freak out. I freak out about everything really so I should of expected to have to be careful with Steemit

Go to steemit.chat you can set up an account and talk to other steemians.

Is it an ethical way to message people?

There are currently 3 ways to talk to people using the blockchain:

  • write a post
  • write a comment
  • send a (micro-)payment with a memo

The ethical concepts applies more to the content of your message than the method used.

Thanks I get it now. I see that everyone's wallet is viewable by anyone anyway so I was worrying about something that isn't even hidden! I will lose the fear eventually... Thanks everyone for the help.
