This is Where You Should Focus 80% of Your Energy on Steemit.

I Heard There are Great Writers on Steemit But They are Not Making Any Steem.

The story will repeat throughout your lives. Super talented people who never get noticed. I don't care if it is a writer on Steemit, a photographer, artist or someone with a great product to sell.

It always cracks me up when I see posts on Steemit claiming the reason people are not successful here is because their posts are not written well or some other lame reason, that is pure bullshit.

Do You Want to Know Why You are Not Successful on Steemit?

It is because you spend all of your time focusing on things that do not produce results. Here is a list of things that do not pay the bills on Steemit.

  1. Writing Quality
  2. Article Length
  3. Fancy Formatting
  4. Flag Wars, yup you read that correct.
  5. Quantity of Posts.

"OMG Randy, you are saying we should write crappy posts. No I am not, keep reading."

You Are Literally Invisible.

What is the 80/20 Principle on Steemit?

There are three aspects to everything you do on Steemit. Here is the list from the video adapted to this platform.

  1. Production- Writing, Graphics and Editing.
  2. Operations- Voting Power, Bandwidth, Payouts etc.
  3. Marketing- Commenting, Following others, Upvoting Others and Being Part of the Community.

Marketing should take up 80% of your time, get noticed.

Where are the Successful Steemians Spending Their Time?

They are spending their time on marketing. Just like in business you can have the best tool but if nobody knows about it, nobody will buy it. The same goes for content on Steemit. If no one knows you exist then no one will upvote your posts.

"But Randy I want my content to look great so that people will like it." My reply "great, do that but spend 5X the amount of time on marketing your content!"

If You are New or Struggle to Be Noticed Here is an Action Plan.

a. Spend 1 hour writing your post.
b. Spend 10 minutes editing your post.
c. Spend 2 Hours sharing your content on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
d. Spend 3 hours per day engaging with other users or also known as building relationships.

Randy I Don't See You Engaging Across Steemit.

I know you think because I don't do it that you think you can get away with it to. Well, I will let you in on a little secret. I have been in this social media game for years and I was part of Steemit shortly after it began. I have put my time in working, earning the privilege to sit back and enjoy the benefits. The long and short of it is that you have not earned your spot at the table yet. Have you ever heard the term, "work smart, not hard"? Put your energy into being seen rather than having a perfect post.

If You Are Not Willing to Put in the Work to Be Successful, Why Should You Be Rewarded?

Main thing there you point out is marketing. If you want to attract people towards you. There should be something that they want. Which is sp. The higher the upvote worth. It'll take less time to be recognized. Thanks for this blog there are some points that I should work on.

Feels daunting trying to start a new account on steemit. Posts that get hundred of interactions on facebook are hard pressed to get over 3 here as a "starter"

Yes. What I observe here is give and take. If you have something to offer than you'll much than you imagine. But if you have nothing than you have to suffer allot.

Your track record is visible.
I can see your posts are straightforward.
You do not have time for SHENANIGANS.
Your posts are not a love story.
Enough said!
Keep on steemin'

Great advice. Yes, you have to work at it in order to get paid.

Very good advices to become successful with steemit. Thank you very much. Right now I am not able to spend 6 hours per day to do your suggested action plan a) - d). Nevertheless I can scale it down to whatever time-frame, which is possible for me.

I'm more like the 50/50 rule. 50% is shameless self promotion, and 50% is my anarcho-capitalist ramblings.

" Spend 3 hours per day engaging with other users or also known as building relationships." Exactamente!! Your view count on this one will be huge, I'll be sending this link a lot

Thank you @Gringalicious! Say hi to the fam for us.

Flag Wars lol

Nice tips but why you don't like flag wars? :d

What a wonderful way to explain things. I had also this question regarding too high price of SBD but I think your explanation makes some sense now.

important point on steemit u share thank for share many new user dont know this point why they are not success in steemit.

Yes the keys are quality content, marketing and you have to create content that when people read it immediately have a connection with it. Regards

all these things are good and very usful, however too many people waste their precious time doing activities every day. the secret I have learnt on this poste about steemit is that if you can socialise with others by engaging them on their blogs, you will gain more success and popularity and you can't engage them without reading their posts and commenting creatively.thank you @hilarski i'll follow you

this is actually some of the soundest actionable advice i've seen for minnows in a while. getting engagement from others by spending time on comments goes a long way. Also at first, I didn't see or think Facebook or Twitter could help. I was wrong, post everything there now - other steemians come to you and upvote :)

One of the best posts ive seen so far on steemit and how to make money!! Thanks for keeping it so straightforward and clean cut @hilarski!

true enough, you have the follower base, and the reputation.

And its true, discord is a big secret on steem
join the chats, interact
it does get followers then once you get a certain amount it will start to go smoother bit by bit

Thanks for those advices!

But how can someone spend 2 hours sharing a content on social media? Isn’t that done very quickly?

It depends on your skill level. If you share your post only once on FB or Twitter then you already lost.

What strategies do you apply for your marketing?

I couldn't agree with you more! I spend a lot of time now just commenting and I have been using Twitter and fb to share my posts and it works. You can tell when you market and when you don't by the thickness of your wallet. Thanks @hilarski, you make this look easy!😁

wow amazing post friend and you share some brilliant tips i never heard before and i also agree with your thoughts that i promoting our content is one the key things that we are missing most, i will surely try and follow your tips, Stay blessed and thanks for sharing

Brilliant tips! I agree with your action plan, but I spend more than 1 hour just to write a travel article, but it's totally worth it! cheers @hilarski

It totally depends on what you want to accomplish.

its great inspiration as well as tips to be a good steemian, focus on that what should we gonna do, keep in mind about marketing of yourself and let them know about yourself.

Excellent post dear friend @hilarski I totally share your recommendations and tip. I must admit that I will have to adopt more than one
Thank you very much for all these tips, I consider it very valuable and important
I wish you a beautiful day

I've been plugging away. I need to set aside a couple hours of studying and marketing a day on Steemit.

It is hard to find time with a full time job and two kiddos.

Someday soon, Steemit may be my full time job.

JGV

I agree it is difficult to find the time but two months of super active promotion and you will be able to do it full time. At least if the Steemit algorithm stays the way it is.

Marketing is a key, I also think that people should make funny, emotional comments. I got noticed by some big steemians after I wrote some funny comments with idea.

Well said, wish I could get the people I brought to steemit to read it. The most wonderful post ever written earns ZERO if you have no followers. No one sees it. No one sees it, no one upvotes it or resteems it. It rolls off the "new" front page in about ten seconds...

Great tips . Too bad iftt is not working with streamian and twitter, that helped me get more exposure.

Holy crap, I just checked and you are right. Bummer!

This is mind bursting.
Iknowledge is key.
Thank you for this insight
I am off to work it out smartly.

thanks for information that why people are not success in steemit.😁

thanks for information on steemit it helpful for new user 😊

You're talking about marketing outside of Steemit, but wouldn't it be better to focus your time to build a network on Steemit itself?

The audience you get through Facebook and other social networks might just read the article and leave without making an account an upvoting.

not aware of it earliar, thanks for explaining.

Waww good story thank you for sharing sir

thanks for this advices i will tak it in my maind

Thanks for sharing your great post.i also like your sharing ..your are so great person i also like you so much @hilarski

GReat post, I'm a big fan of the 80/20 principle since following Tim Ferris for many years, your totally right that engaging with others if your best course of action here.
You didn't expressly state it, but I've found that engaging with others in steemit chat or discord are very important steps and not just on steemit. I've found little benefit from promoting on Facebook/twitter but spending that same time in the chat platforms has paid back in huge dividends.
I probably shouldn't be criticizing someone like you but just my two cents!

I've been trying to do this marketing of myself on steemit, I just seem to be commenting on the wrong posts I guess..

Any pointers on posts/authors to market successfully with?

This was a great read tho.
Resteemed..
