The best way to get noticed is to build up your followers. The easiest way is to follow people who post similar content to what you post, make good comments on their posts, not just follow me but write something possitive about their post. The more people who follow you the more your posts will be seen in their home feed so the more votes you will get.
Like with any other social media you need to make connections to get noticed by the community.

No problem, I struggled when I first came here and quite a few early posts didn't earn anything. It takes a bit of time to build up a following but just stay possitive and you'll get there.

@alienbutt Absolutely and I think connections here are even more important, there is a lot more interaction going on here on Steemit than for instance Instagram.
