RE: 💰Pennies for Thoughts! Why Auto-Voting is NECESSARY (+ STEP BY STEP HOW TO GUIDE)💰

in #steemit7 years ago

Hello again...I'm not sure what you're asking for... I understand we all make mistakes and I thank you for admitting yours. I had responded to your previous comment already, not sure how much more of my time you're requesting since you weren't overly kind to me, but because I am who I am, here we go again, let me see if I can help make some sense of this for you!

I did respond below but specifically to this: this way you speak of is already occurring regardless of my opinion or advocacy. I know you're new here, but you'll soon see it in action. The same people stay on the top because the big votes are behind them regardless of how bad you might not want that. It is what it is. Vote for what you want to see! There is some really incredible content on here and it's up to us to vote for what we want! This is a huge topic of conversation as we all try to figure out how to make things more fair and viable for everyone!

IMO the biggest problem is people putting up shit content for pennies. If that weren't the case, upvoting and following trails this way wouldn't be a problem because we would trust that our vote was going towards quality and valuable posts but some people think they can spend 2 minutes posting a picture on here and are clogging up the feeds and making this use of voting a risky business! These are the ways of the curator and why what we choose to put our votes on is important!

As stated in my reply, there are problems with the platform that need to be addressed, but for now, voting needs to happen and people are being too scared and timid and busy to use theirs which is where auto-vote comes in handy to keep Steem value up and not down (and I have seen both being here for so long.) Steem value rises based on demand. Recently our SBD was up to over 12x the amount! That was largely attached to the popularity growth of the platform but a lot of people come in to make money and leave when it doesn't happen, leaving dead accounts and unused VP.

All of the groups and support channels ask for autovoting and following of trails, this is the way of the platform. Might as well put your vote where it counts, supporting people and content you value.

If you'd like to see a change in the platform, I'd suggest starting by producing valuable content and making friends instead of attacking people from within. I believe that kind of behavior is what is truly destroying the platform.

I hope this gives you what you're looking for and helps you find your way in this ocean, I know it's rocky and wavy at first but I'm sure you'll be floating soon enough!

Thanks for the thoughtful answer. My intention isn't to debate the issue with you. I just wanted to state that what you advocate replaces "proof of mind" curation with a popularity contest. IMO you are not looking at the big picture. You are not thinking, what would happen to steemit if the rewards pool was allocated according to a popularity contest? No one has yet responded to me on this.

I'm the one who was insulted and attacked so it's not making any sense to me what you are after here except maybe attention.@ideafarm, I'm telling you this out of candor, I'm not going to keep on wasting my time responding to you when you're not even taking the same time to respond back. This is my 3rd attempt at coming to you from my heart and trying to figure out how such a heinous response could have come my way but it's not seeming to me that you're even reading my replies to you or giving me the same respect in return.

This is already how things are happening and it's not negative for the platform. You can go on to research this yourself in your own time to see it in action, it's all over the place, that much I can promise you.

There have been curation trails and fanbases since inception and those on first have developed quite the following which is where the popularity contest you speak of comes into play.

I didn't develop the system. I'm just playing the game the best way I can.

I think we can agree to end this here as I'm too kind to not reply and honestly at this point, I've had enough of this.

Please try to be the kind of community player you're saying you want to be. I feel like it's in there inside of you!

Also, seems that whether people were autovoted or organically voted, your point would still be a problem. Think about what you're saying, of course it's a popularity contest. It's up to the people to decide what they deem to be popular. Same as an election. We have the candidates, we have the choice to choose. It doesn't matter if it's done automatically or organically. We choose who we want to put our trust in.

When you elect a political member, you vote once and trust they will live up to your expectations. It's the same clicking a button on autovote. They have gained your favor and now you put your trust in them to continue to bring about the same content you valued.

The difference is, unlike in our current system, we are not stuck forever with our decision as a quick un-click of the auto, turns off our voting for them if they slip or we no longer support them. No problem.

This should answer your concern.

Don't feel compelled to answer. If you reread my original post it expressed opposition to what you advocate. It did not attack you personally and it did not attack your blog post. It only attacked what you advocate.

Apparently, you are a woman. But you are on a platform that conceals gender. So you should not take offense when some rough man like me speaks to you as he would speak to another rough man. Men do not interact with each other in the same way that they interact with women, or in the way that women interact with other women.
