On World Music Day (and just a day before my birthday) is when I joined Steemit!

I can't believe it's been a year already. Sometimes it feels I haven't spent enough time here, other times it feels like I've been here forever.

Things change so fast in the Blockchain world and it has been a Roller Coaster Ride for everyone.

But steemit has been one of those things which have helped me immensely, not only monetarily, but in terms of giving me the confidence boost when I needed it the most.

The story goes something like this:
Last year, same month, June 2017, things weren't going so well with me. I was going through a rough patch and my confidence was at an all-time low.
That is when I heard about Steemit from my friend @tamsguitar.
I made my first post on Steemit, then got excited and made 3-4 posts in a row! I was a noob and didn't know anything about Steemit. But I spent time here and got to know how it works.
I started connecting with people and making friends. Commented a lot on posts, found out about discord and joined some channels.

Being a musician, I first sought out music communities. And the best and the largest is Open Mic!
My first Open Mic entry was a cover, which got picked up by @curie and got to the trending page!
I also won 2nd place in that Open Mic! Great confidence boost right there!
Open Mic has given a home and a medium of expression to so many musicians on Steemit, it is just overwhelming!

Next, I sought out Indian Community on Steemit and found out about Indian Discord channel and @firepower. I actually travelled from Pune to Benguluru to attend his workshop and that is where I learnt all the basics of Steemit.
Ever so grateful to Meghan aka @firepower for his efforts in spreading the love for Steem in India. (Go vote for him as a witness).

The @indiaunited Team on Steemit is doing a brilliant job right now of curating and promoting quality posts from Indians on Steemit. Kudos to the team who keep this going!

My main claim to fame (kind of) was when I won the contest by @fyrstikken and got 75000 Steem Power delegated for a week! I had a blast of a time making that video and using all that SP for a week 😎

I next found out about S.A.M.C. (Steemit Artists Music Compilation) by @soundlegoin and immediately submitted my track. Since then, I have made album art for 2 of the compilations (and almost getting the 3rd one) and my tracks have been part of 3 compilations.

Another community I have been part of since the beginning is @thealliance. I was contacted by @enginewitty to be a part of a community where people help each other grow, sort of like a family, and I, of course, said yes!
This is one community which has got so many people started and kept them interested by constant support and help when required.

I agree I haven't been around for a while now, but I was always there in spirit (and in the tags and signature of all my posts). I will be regular from now on, promise :)

I am sure there are a lot of people I am forgetting to mention here.
But I shall do that in my coming vlogs!

I am just really happy to have taken this decision to stop everything and focus on self-development.
Like they say, sometimes you have to take a step back to take a leap forward.
