Redeem rewards

in #steemit7 years ago

I have one quick questions which can hopefully be answered by someone involved in the design of the general Steemit web-interface. Why is there a button for redeeming the generated rewards?

Don't get me wrong: It's not a big deal for me to press on this button two or three times a day but so far I failed to understand the intention behind this button. Why would anyone not want to redeem his or her rewards?

Maybe somebody could enlighten me about the reasoning behind the introduction of this button. Thank you very much, dear fellow Steemians.

Steemit hopes that you may forget to claim your rewards ... just kidding. :)

I guess that the number of (reward) transactions decreases, if you pool several of them by pressing the "REDEEM REWARDS" button. Before every single reward meant a single transaction as well. Now system resources are saved.

I was always under the impression that Steemit is extremely well designed for future growth and that scaling isn't really an issue these days. Maybe it is indeed a measure for the future already.

Or maybe "it" really wants us to forget. ;-)

It might be Anti-Bot Security.

I don't think so. I have never seen the developers discouraging the use of bots in any way...

I think it's to do with the fact that steemit doesn't hold your personal keys on the backend of the system. The action needs to be carried out on steemit from your browser to access the locally stored keys

Interesting post. Thank you. However, redeeming wasn't necessary before HF 18. How would you explain that?

Yeah, I think you're right... It seems more to do with minimizing the number of transactions going onto the blockchain...

That's probably the case. Thank you very much for sharing this information. Would be really nice to learn more about the official stance of the developers but I couldn't find any information on this anywhere.

Nice 12 cents from one comment! this is a godo sign! imagienfi u got a dime for eery redit or facebook comment! ddude keep this up u will be getting $1 comments all day everyday bro this is the sceret of steemit make lots fo comments i make more in comments than posts sometimes

did you get any answer ? please share if so.

Only the ones you can find here so far. However, I'll let you know once I learn more about this.

thank you. i'll follow you .

No clue. My only thought is that perhaps it's a way to protect against inactive accounts sucking up rewards.

Oh that's a great thought. Seems the most believable without any further answers, cheers. (Just googled here, also confused)

Hum... might be the case. Can anyone confirm this?

It's to do with minimizing the number of transactions going onto the blockchain...

So should you redeem them as soon as possible or do you let them build up?

Good Question can anybody answer this? I have a small amount should I just let it build before hitting button?

Maybe it's there to show how much you earned that block?

We were wondering at our crypto meet up last night if it costs to redeem for the transaction?
