I believe that the two are not comparable at the moment. Tripadvisor is a portal for trip advices... Steemit currently a container where some people are trying to make something to improve it as "Social network" and some other are only doing their best to get paid. Steemit is at the moment an unidentified object that may evolve in something great but:
- It is still a beta
- It has a very limited amount of features
- People post daily silly stuff, but it is not Facebook
- People post photos but it is not Instagram
- People post trip/hotel/pub review but it is not Tripadvisor
I really like the idea that it can develop in something very very good, but I think that some actions need to be taken...
Then, can it evolve in something that may steal a big amount of users to FB/Instagram/Twitter/Tripadvisor? Well, maybe, but not to all of them...
Hi @gibiuk, you have made some good points. The main issue is that Steemit is still in beta. What will happen in the near future, is that apps will develop that only access parts of the steemit blockchain. For example an app for travel posts, which only accesses travel posts. An app for photos that only accesses photo posts, etc... The possibilities are endless. When this is streamlined we should see a slick user experience that not only rewards the users, creators etc but also has all the added benefits of a blockchain, namely uncensorable, free, open. I am not saying that this will happen immediately but I am really positive for the future and I cant wait to see where this steem train takes us.
Hi @eroche I am with you, I really hope that things will happen and will go in the right direction. What I also like is that Steemit is open to everybody, everybody can implement new features, fix problems etc.. and this brings in so many positive points. Let's see where Steemit will arrive.
